Not sure about the ps3 but the xbox doesn't have a way to hook up to the Verizon air card. It's simple to do, just run a Ethernet cable between the xbox/ps3 and your laptop.

 

ok and you run all of this off an inverter of some sort?

 

you dont run through your laptop, the wireless is fast enough. i have a 400 watt inverter that plugs into the cig lighter. using the cig lighter cuts it down to 200 watt, you would have to go straight to the battery for the full 400. 200 watt works fine for me, the PS3 doesnt need a full 200 anyway. i got mine at a love's i think for $30.

 

so you can run a ps3 and tv with just 200 watts?

 

I have a 1500 wired to the battery that powers my xbox and tv. Laptop is plugged into one of the cigarette lighter ports using a universal travel charger I bought at Frys Electronics.

 

i could probably get by with a 1000 though right. also question while i am on the topic of inverters....say i wanted a fridge or just cooler to keep food. obviously i need to run it all night to keep from spoiling how would you do so without turning truck off?

 

Just goto network connections on your pc, and highlight ethernet and wireless, then right click to get a menu then click bridge connections. Plug a ethernet cord into your laptop, and whatever you pick up on your pc on wireless will stream back out the ethernet. (put the ethernet into the xbox ...)

My TV is 12 volt. Check your tv for max current draw. The standard PS3 will max out at during gaming drawing 206 watt. The newer Slim is much more efficient at 96. When picking an inverter, make sure you have enough power to run your components at max draw. Having an inverter that has more power then you need is better then having one that has just enough. if you have more then you need, your inverter will run a lot cooler and you will less likely pop the breaker in the middle of game play. Nothing worse then being in the middle of a nice kill streak and having everything go black . There are a some good reads here on the forum about picking an inverter and proper installs.

 

I am hearing from a lot of people that they couldn't get their ps3 to fire up through any cig lighter inverter. I think it's because the ps3 takes a greater peak wattage to fire up and then after that its continous is fine. Out of curiosity what is your peak wattage for your inverter?
