My brother hops on his laptop and plays video games/surfs internet/watches a lot of porn, movies online.. Just some suggestions.

if right now you are thinking about "the bar scene", perhaps you ought to stay away from trucking....?????
you can watch a movie, go to a movie theater, maybe a strip club, but the consequences of your actions can be detrimental to your career...
leave your truck unattended and something happens to it, you could be fired.
go back to your truck drunk, YOU WILL BE arrested, THEN FIRED.....
so if you got a "playboy attitude" now about clubbing and drinking, best that you look else where's for employment........trucking ain't about boozing and w-h-o-r-i-n-g around.....Jarhed1964, PainNdaNeck, Buckeye 'bedder and 2 others Thank this. -
When you are "off the clock" you can do pretty much what you want. I'd recommend laying off the booze unless you are doing a 34 hr restart or are on hometime. In either case, allow plenty of time to get all the alcohol COMPLETELY out of your system. CDL holders are held to a higher standard with respect to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). The standard is 0.04. I'd suggest not driving until you have let enough time pass to be at 0.00.

What are some fun things to do while on a 34 reset? Lets hear some stories!

Get a hobby, start geocaching or read books or something. Better yet, entertain me, make You Tube videos so I have something to laugh at.

Most definitely, when I think about the "trucking lifestyle", partying with strippers and hanging out in clubs is one of the main attractions. Go for it dude!

do whatever you want. when i was over the road last, i went to a bar probably two or three times a week. don't get falling down drunk and you will be fine. way too many truck drivers are misinformed about booze. you cant drink within 4 hours of being on duty. you cant blow over .04, ever. even in your personal ride. no one ever hassled me, and cops asked me what i was doing walking back and forth to the truck as well. i told them "i'm goin to the bar". they don't care, its your right to do as you wish, and there is nothing wrong or illegal about it.
I have "read" and heard "stories" (that sound like bs, thats why i put that in quotes) about cops supposedly being jerks and trying to hassle drivers who had been at the bar, and given them a hard time about having keys in the ignition or something along those lines. so, just to c.y.a., keep the keys out of the ignition after you have been drinking, and if they ask what you are doing, tell them you are off duty, and log it the same way. don't log sleeper berth, because then you will have to explain why you smell like beer, and they might want to search your truck or some other waste of time.
strip club is a moot point, it would depend on the state and if they serve booze or not. then its just like a bar, don't stumble out of there and fall flat on your face in front of a police officer.
its hard to have hobbies in a truck, even if you have a lot of storage space. reading is good, however, you can only read so much. i used to have my haro bmx bike hanging off the ceiling of my werner truck, so i could cruize in style to the bar, lol......U4EA Thanks this.
