I know this might not be the section to ask for it- but heck Ill give it a try and if it gets moved, no biggy! Im heading to Vegas via I-40 and need a little help as I have never been to Vegas from kingman AZ. Is route 93 the best option from I40? Are trucks allowed over Hoover dam? I keep getting different answers- to take 58-163- 95 and into Vegas and some say take 68-93 and the Hoover bypass is complete. Rand Mcnally GPS shows 93 is a ok but just wanted to confirm.

    Thanks for the help.

I-40 to exit 48 in Arizona. That will be US-93.... Follow 93 the rest of the way. Yes, the Hoover Dam bypass is complete according to the experts on my CB radio

Yeah, the Hoover Dam bypass was opened in Nov,10. And trucks are allowed. A word of advice, weekends are busy with tourists at the Dam. Northbound 93 into Nv. isn't a problem, BUT, Southbound from Nv. into Az. gets backed up after 10 am, Sat and Sun. because Nv. is still two lanes (one in each direction) from Boulder City to the bypass start.

    Be Nice !!!

They didn't cover "map reading" in driving school.
Too busy stressing "pride" and how "special" they were cause they went.

He was asking about the construction because trucks at one point had to go a alternate route. I don't travel that part of the country, but would have asked about it too.

Driver, that is what 511 is all about. (see 511.org) These companies need to prepair these drivers better for life on the road.

    Thank you for the replies-

Johnny 1: the route was verified but the question was which route is better. Any one that traveled the route would know better than a gps or a map. I guess you should learn to read and comprehend. You seem like a frustrated person who had nothing positive to chime in but had to dole out an insult instead. Keep on truckin there super trucker!:biggrin_2559:
