My shifting is MUCH better, just need to strengthen my clutch leg.
As for backing, I am better, but only by a little bit. My trainer was dedicated which means that he was often in a rush to finish for the day, so I did not have as much backing practice as I had hoped.

You really need to make sure your next trainer will let you do it all. (backing) Wont be long and you will be doing it all by yourself.
-
I'm not sure how that will happen since phase 2 'trainers' typically sleep when their 'trainee' drives, but I will explain the situation and see how he responds.

Trainers don't typically sleep the whole time. They are usually up at delivery and pick ups. Mine is up and available whenever I have a question or need help. Which is less and less with each passing day.

It's going to vary from newbie to newbie and trainer to trainer for that matter. Some newbies can be left to drive on their own and the trainer can sleep. Others, not a good idea! You stay awake with them for their 10-11hrs and the truck pulls over for both of them to sleep. Whatever the case the trainer needs to make sure that the newbie can handle what's going on. Most of the driving training is just going to be practice/time behind the steering wheel. The rest is tips/hints, suggestions, and paperwork.

Well, let's see how long it takes for me to get a trainer...

I thought you were already with a trainer?

I was with a phase 1 trainer. I did two weeks with him and was 'suppossed' to be handed off to a phase 2 trainer, but I 'fell through the cracks.' The training coordinator had me stay with him one more week. Unfortunately, his truck was in the shop until Wednesday night, so I only had two more days with him.
Since I asked to go home to see my kids, the training coordinator said she has no idea when she can get me a trainer and that me asking to go home 'doesn't look good.' Although I feel bad about it, I miss my kids too much. Two weeks out and two days home is OK, but 6 weeks straight doesn't work for me.
