I have 3 years of tractor trailer belly dump experience.I got another truck from my CO. to drive and it has a super 10.I know how to upshift im just kind of having trouble downshifting. It has a CAT C15. I know about the way to shift up 1-2-1-3-4-3-5-6-5-7-8-7-9-10.MAKE ANY SENSE? lol ............Downshift 10th to 9th then split back up to 10.Rev to get it out of hole into neutral and rev up again to throw it in 8th gear.....Im just scratching like crazy and losing gears. Its .Im sure it is because the rpms are too high but I was just looking for some tips from you guys with even more experience.I never shifted a super 10 because I was always shifting an eaton fuller with a regular 10. Id appreciate a little help. Thanks Guys

Don't run your rpm's up high. Also shift as soon as possible going up without the truck lagging. I'm not sure if all super 10's are like this but after hitting the selector going up the truck should shift up through the high gears automatically. They will also downshift automatically. This maybe your problem in downshifting. You might be trying to do it the same time the truck is. That C-15 is a good motor! I loved mine! Had two twin straight stacks with it too! When I hit the Jake I would shake boulders loose on the mountains! Wasn't good for team driving!

You should know road speed versus gears by now. So you are probably overworking the throttle. If you try to raise the throttle before you let the button do it's thing, it'll act like it's hanging up in nuetral or something. Be a little more patient and smoother. You can preselect the button and it won't change until you let off the throttle upshifting. Downshifting, split, pop it out of gear, bump her up to 15-1600 and it should fall in.
You could probably double downshift better until you get the hang of it. Leave the splitter alone and slow down to about 7-800 rpms and shift like normal. 10-8-6-4. the other gears are a matter of flipping the button and working the throttle.
You shouldn't be using 1st gear anyways unless you're heavy starting out on a hill or such. Pull down the visor and look at the sticker with the gear pattern. Might be on the dash. Your description above doesn't make sense, lol. I see what you are trying to get across. You have to forget the straight ten pattern and learn the new one. -

A lot of drivers have similar frustration with the super 10. I ran one for 3 years; I liked it honestly...go figure.
The easiest way to speed up the shifts is to lever shift every shift. Flip the range selector; pop it out of gear, then back into whichever is next. The timing will also bring you back to about the right rpm range to accomplish the shift without grinding or other issues also. -
Ever drive a 13 speed... just like it but without the low range... pretty simple.
I like the Super 10's...especially liked 'em before i had my right shoulder replaced... lots less shifting. -
"Super 10"
Clutch and shift into low gear, start off and just before you would "Shift" a normal 10, flip the button back.
Now let off accelerator and it will shift and you can "gas on it" again.
Next gear you need to move button back where you started off, and when time comes shift with the stick.
Repeat, repeat, repeat.
You are only shifting with "stick" FOUR times. Just like a 5 speed, but each gear is "split".
The gears are:
1/2 (shift stick) 3/4 (shift stick) 5/6 (shift stick) 7/8 (shift stick) 9/10.
(the "/" is you flipping button) -
got it! yeah i been downshifting "o k ayy" but i need to let off the rpms more than i been doing 10High 9Low back to 10High rev to get out of gear into neutral then rev up to get to next lower gear but dont let them drop too low cuz or else the shifter wont even jump out of the hole nex time.O well Practice makes Perfect especially when some1 is not watching you while shifting lmao....I never went to a driving school but used my uncles truck to get my class a cdl! hmmm

When you shift use the switch as a pre-selector
1(throw switch) bump throttle-2(throw switch) bump throttle move shifter-3(throw switch) bump throttle-4.......
just the opposite for downshift
10(throw switch) bump throttle-9(throw switch) bump throttle and move shifter-8(throw switch) bump throttle-7(throw switch) bump throttle and move shifter-6
It is a pre-selector and will not change until the strain is removed by bumping throttle(or clutch).
Going back into 10th and doubling down is fighting against the gear step of the equipment. Easy to do empty by lugging but hard on equipment when loaded. -
Can you float the gears on the super 10?
