You can try Van Wyk for Owner Operator but i dont think they are looking for any out here on the East... give Tim A Call 1-800-541-3189, the Recruiter... If so you cant go wrong even tho they will make you shake your head at times but that every company..

But i do know Houff pays real good and has PLENTY of Miles within a short operating area with owner operators, give them a call also!!

    Jesse70 Thanks this.

If you guys want a lot of home time, u can try Payne Trucking out of Fredericksburg Va. They just sold their van division to Napa Transportation from Pennsylvania (don't know if Napa will set up a terminal in Fredericksburg but that could be another choice.) Payne trucking is hiring for dump trailer drivers now; just read the ad in the paper. I see them throughout VA and MD all the time; wish I had my class A wit a little experience!

I've talked to several of Houffs owner operators and they all seemed very happy. They mainly run ny(no nyc syracuse area),nj,pa,md,wva,va. They have a terminal in richmond.

Napa's area is mainly the northeast. They have a fatigued driver rating of 95% (which is very high) and out of 129 driver inspections the furthest south any of their inspections were was north carolina and the furthest west was pa/ny. They pull reefers and vans I'm not sure whether they require hazmats. Their tractors are mostly centuries their vehicle maintenance score is a 48% which is average. Good luck on whoever you choose.

I was surprised too about Napa and Payne deal. Now the owner is growing his fleet of tractors and dump trailers. He also just bought an old bus depot off 95 near massaponax for a new yard. I hope he gets more peterbilt dump trucks, i'll be there for sure!

Ya might consider an outfit from Petersburg. They are Ready Trucking. They run alot of North East with extra pay for the northeast and South east too. The get you home weekends and sometimes thru the week. They do maintainence to the trucks on the weekends at the terminal so fixing the truck usually doesnt mess up your weekly miles. The terminal in Petersburg is right next to the city dump and your car being parked in the employee lot will be covered with sea gull poop when you get back from your run. Bring a car cover and gloves. No sparkeling personalities at the place but they are fair. Sometimes they fuss and fight like dogs but quickly makeup. (like a big family) Don't expect the red carpet treatment. Driver bathrooms are the worst ever. You fuel at the terminals so.... no free showers on the road. I hear they have a unique lease program where they provide free fuel at terminal, a walk away clause, but you never get the truck. I'm not sure about the terms you'll have to check yourself.
