I did a lot of research before picking Boyd. Maverick looked good but I didn't want to drive an automatic. TMC has great looking trucks and they get washed once a week but it was way too easy to find many different people complaining about how they are treated. Roehl wouldn't take me because I have a "violent criminal history" 21 years ago. But then their trucks are looking pretty rough. I went with Boyd.
I had a chance to talk with many drivers and they are all happy and greeted everyone in orientation. The safety guy knows his stuff, we met all the big shots via video conference.
I ended up getting sick big time and they really cared! They were going to bring me to a clinic to get antibiotics but I turned it down. I think they were going to pay for the clinic visit too.
I made it home in a little over a week then got snowed in so I had 3 days at home (I'm in a motel now for 2 nights while trainer is home). My school buddy didn't make it home for 2 weeks but stuff happens. It has nothing to do with the company. It's the industry.
Yup the trucks are slow... 62.
They really do treat you with respect at Boyd. My trainer has been with them 8 years and he said they have never lied to him yet. He has drivin truck over 40 years. I really could not find anyone with an attitude and I was looking hard for signs of a bad company.
They said 1 out of 10 rookies will be left after 6 months. If you don't know what you are doing you will be gone. If you can't drive you will be gone. I dare anyone to find a Boyd truck on youtube screwing up.
I'm happy and sold. 3 more weeks of training and I will get my truck (I think/hope):yes2557:

Bed bugs NO, Crappy hotel NO, 20 people in class NO. 9 max per week. The classroom is too small and you know it HOE! We had 8 or 9 and ended up with 4 for one reason or another. They don't just stick people in trucks. They hire good drivers. If they can't make them a good drive BEFORE they are hired...they are gone.
They bought most of the lunches even after giving money for food, They carted us to walmart....I can go on and on. I do not plan on jumping around to different companies. There has to be a reason they have so man multi million "safe driver" miles. And HOEDOWN (or what ever it was)if TMC doesn't work for you..I hear Werner hires people. Boyd isn't for you I can tell. They are waaaaay too happy for your liking.

I'm liking Boyd after reading this. I'm a rook, just out of training school and probably have the same story as most. I'm just trying to find the right company to start with and not get jerked around. Boyd seems like a good match due to their location right up the road in Bham.
