Some loads have more money on them some dont, i haul 95% direct shipper freight so i know what companys are paying for the most part to move a load in my running area. If i use a broker i can pretty much tell by the lane if hes low balling the rate.

Seems like the rates for flatbeds are steadily going down in the northeast. I've had some brokers actually act suprised when I turn down a $1.05 cpm rate.

Most of the loads out of the north east pay alot more than what a broker offers, anywhere from $.40 to $1 or more a mile, but because theres so many trucks up here that want to get out they take advantage of it big time.

They're going down on the West Coast too.....

Turned down a load that had 7 stops and paid $1000 to go 2000 miles altogether.....But the broker said that was a "Good Rate".....:biggrin_25523:

I can get $1478 going 480 -500 miles leaving from home port; Depending on which receiver I go to. Can only get $675-$750 going home. Same miles give or take 20.
So, take the cheap freight back or dead head back? I'll take that and have a good average on the trip. Deadhead if you want. That 675 to 750 aint going up because of the number of trucks trying to leave And I am not waiting to see if it will. I will load and go out one day, unload and reload the next morning be back that evening, unload and reload and go again on day 3. back home day 4.
