I will state that while I am an American I am with a Canadian and it is already difficult crossing to visit him and vice versa. That is why we are thankful he got a job running my way while we wait for immigration. Still this would really slow down trade
This should make crossing the border even easier for us....sigh

that is a very stupid idea----i am in the same boat as you pg--waiting in the immagration thing--slowely going broke waiting cause i cant work--but there is light at the end of the tunnel----
but to need a visa to back and forth thats crazy---they cant control the mexican border how the hell will they control another one? -
Maybe when they figger out how to do it and control the Mexican border they could move north.
It'll NEVER happen! -
Canuck sorry you are waiting in limbo. I am hanging in the states and Dh will be running my way out of Canada so we can see each other but ya this is such a Mexico!
-
I saw that on the news today and also thought that it will go even slower from now on. The media and politicians are fear mongering again. I don't know why they keep doing this, it just ends up being a pain in the ### for the rest of us. The way things are going in the US I think they will put up a wall within the next 10 years. No one gets in and on one gets out. I just hope I'm not down there when they put in the last brick.
-
They won't be putting a wall up to keep people out but rather to keep them in.
-
Well a wall would not help things we would just scale it! However I had an issue with a Canadian immigration officer at the Emerson/Pembina crossing. He threatened to bar me for a year for no reason and I just stated go ahead and I will just cross into Canada in one of the corn fields around here.

He was less than enthused...
Still the issue with the IO's is that we both have our cdl's. I was accused of working with dh and I said well we can work for the same company if they have an office in the US..... -
you got that right--no sense of humour at some of the border crossings--and never have a blown out tire inside of your vehicle--i had one in my tahoe-well they spent about 2 hours snooping and taking stuff apart at buffalo --guess they figured it was one of the stuff the spare full of drugs trick
but it is their job and i am glad they do it--just wish they would smile once in awhile -
Blown tire drug smuggler. They are humorless on both sides of the border especially if you are in a relationship with the other side.
-
the canadian ones i generally get along with great--had trouble couple years ago with a pair of dykes when i was back into bc
but the us guys seem nasty to everybody--lots of times i see american drivers having a hard time getting back in
