Any highway that is part of the Federal Highway system that bans or restricts truck traffic ought to be removed from the system, and all of the complainers should be held responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the road after that!
US 17 in VA above I-66 ought to be the 1st example. -

That is why they call it a HIGHWAY!!!!!
Don't build your house next to an airport and then complain about the noise....
The highway was there first, that's how your dang house got there....
The folks that travel that highway gotta stop and eat and by shoes for their kids.
And buy gas and the farmers bring their crops to the highway and that bowl of cereal you ate this AM came to you on that highway.
If you don't want to live near the highway, move to the sticks.
How much would your home be worth if it was not near the highway?HEAVY DUDE and crc32 Thank this. -
The next fight is coming soon because Exxon has delivered a dozen modules to the Lewiston port that are bound for Alberta via the same highway. That shipment will have 200 loads. As I posted before, Idaho law has no provision to contest the route, the permit dept. has the final say.
