I had some time this past Wednesday between loads to stop for a couple of hours at the Davey Crocket Travel Center (NOW a TA) in Greenville TN on I-81. After I fueled, I got my stuff and took a shower. When I came out of the shower, there were so many people inside the travel center, it was hard to walk thru to the restaraunt. When I am hungry and I wait too long between meals, as is common in trucking, I get hypo-glycemic (suffer from low blood sugar), so it is important to eat regularly. However, not only was there a line outside the 'Store" to pay for gas, but there was a line out the door for the restaraunt. About three hundred fifty "bikes" had pulled into the Davey Crocket for food and fuel on their way to Washington DC in the RIDE FOR THE WALL 2007. There must have been atleast 600 people (or more) bikers there from all walks of life with one singular purpose; Honor our soldiers who "Gave All".
To be honest, until I discovered their "mission" I was quite resentful about having to "wait in line" for a meal. (After all, I DID just purchase over $400 in fuel, right?) Once I found out why they were there, I changed my attitude real quick, and not because "bikers" intimidate me (because they don't).
I sat and had dinner with a small group (all we could get at the table) from Dallas and had some good discussions.
Anyway, afterwards, I took several pictures, until time required me to leave.
    Here they are:
