I have never had a problem with a NAPA filter. I have bought fuel and oil filters from napa and both worked fine. I change them reguarly and I think that helps avoid filter issues.

Yes, Wix makes NAPA filters. Hauled a plenty out of Gastonia, NC. Wix is one company I like dealing with. I'd use their filters anytime.

9 trucks, 5 ag tractors, dozer, skidder, 2 F250s and other stuff. All NAPA filters. Oil, Fuel and hydraulic. No complaints. They deliver too.

For what it is worth it really depends on oil your running and intervals--I've run Cat's for years--and yes cat tells you to run their filters--but I have had more than one good cat wrench tell me(privately) that all of cat's corporate research shows there is no significant difference in filters until changes are pushed past 25k(many fleets I understand are pushing synthetics to 30k and beyond)--I rarely pass 15K(still believe the best insurance on a motor is regular oil changes-among other things)--having said all this--with the cost difference between cat's and others--I do not see the point in cat filters--I've run wix-fleetguard-and baldwins and have good luck with all.

From what I read Wix makes filters for NAPA and CAT.

From what I gather, not exactly, Wix makes the filter media for Cat. If you ask Cat they say no they make their own filter but... I think they mean they assemble thier own filter. The inside of a Cat and Wix look the same. The shell and the base of a Cat filter looks to be heavier duty but I think its over kill. I run NAPA.
NAPA stands for Nation Auto Parts Association. They dont make anything they have parts packaged under thier name. Most of the time its the best on the market IMO.

A long time ago Caterpillar and Donaldson formed a joint venture company called AFSI (Advanced Filtration Systems Inc.) to manufacture an advanced design filter developed by Caterpillar for their machines. The filter was under development for four years before production started. I believe this was in 1986. Caterpillar and Donaldson each own 50% of the joint venture company. It is sold, of course under the "CAT" filter name.
