Sure young pup.... and I used to build NASA rockets in my backyard.:biggrin_2559:

Ain't it funny how yer "Real Jobs" disappeared (aka nobody wants yer skinny butt no more) while I've worked steadily for 38 years in mine. Hmmm, maybe y'all wuzzn't as "important an wunnerful smart" as you thunk you wuz huh? Mebbe yer "new school outlook" is just so much dogcrap in the real world.

Mebbe you should go "reinvent" yerselves as a toaster oven or sumpin useful? Or at least as sumpin with a sense of humor so you know when you're being put on.:biggrin_2559:

BTW, trucker tales is de troof.... with garnish.:biggrin_2559:

well i just did a little math, if you were to work 100 hours a week at walmart, and were making 8 bucks an hour which is probably not what they pay, its most likely less, you'd be making 1040 gross (60 hours time and a half, $720, 40 hours regular time, $320).

Guys, let's stop and look at a couple of things here.

Sure things suck right now, where doesn't it? Wages ain't great but please note that we're getting a big influx of ex-high dollar guys whose "real job" no longer exists. They hate the fact that they are "reduced" to associating with folks who are "beneath them" (us). They also hate the fact that they wind up having to ask us "how do I do this". They really hate the fact that our lowly trade putters along while the one they spent many thousands on learning has gone *poof* off to China.

Oh, they'll come around eventually. Most of them will discover that "hey, truckers aren't as dumb as I thot they were". Some will just lose their minds, but they'd do that anyplace.

Y'see, we have some pretty smart people. Folks like Southernpride have learned (and taught) how to survive and even prosper in tough times. No, most of us will ever live in a mansion or drive Ferraris, but we've figured out that you don't really need that. If you're keeping your family housed, clothed and fed you're doing what a man (or woman) is supposed to do. Anything plus is simply gravy.

yup, i agree. 23 years old here, i dropped out of highschool and got my GED started working, bought a house when i was 20, meanwhile just about every kid i went to school with either lives at home and works a crappy part time job, or has a crappy apartment and a crappy part time job. i was inside a restaurant i deliver to and this girl was complaining about something and one of the other waitress's says "whats wrong?" and she goes "I went to college for 4 years to get a degree and i'm a waitress". i just laughed a little inside, all these kids are hyped up on college, they spend so much time getting an "education" they dont even learn how to have normal things like social skills and common sense. bunch of blind sheep if you ask me.

Bumpy, you can get to xit 11 and go south on 71 to I540 and down to I40 and go west. Yeah I know it's out of route, but the Tpke is gonna be closed awhile. There's a pick up truck in the Spring River at Miami and they got it closed. Will remain closed until they get everybody out of the truck. Looks like it's a body search at this time. Also you might and I say might be able to go to I540 and take US 412 west to Tulsa although I think I-44 is still closed west of Tulsa. They just said the Mo Hwy Patrol is sending traffic down 71 to avoid Miami.
