I was looking at the rand McNally commercial atlas 2009. And it showed that US 93 from Las Vegas to Phoenix is not a truck route. From Exit 71 on I-40 southeast to Wickenburg.

I tried to search for this topic but it's not finding it.

So, you experienced truckers can you verify if this true.

    Thx.

It might not be a truck route, but a lot of trucks go that way. Especially now that the new bypass is open at the dam.

Not 100% sure but I believe since the bridge opened you can go that way.

In 2009 it was not a truck route because homeland security banned truck traffic across the dam. The new bridge across black canyon (hoover dam) is open. It is again a truck route, dont speed from boulder to the dam lots of Nevada DOT enforcement around.

Its much better to take 95 out of Vegas down through CA to 62 into Parker AZ. Run AZ 95 over to hwy 72 I think it is and go East to Vicksburg RD. That goes south to I 10 and you are less than 2 hours from downtown Phx. If you go that way there is a RR track on 95 right before you get into Needles that will knock you off your seat if you hit it too fast. Otherwise its a pretty easy fairly flat road. 93 is pretty hilly and winds around a lot. You will see lots of those little crosses on that road.

Almost all of 93 is four lane. They just completed another widening project this year between I 40 and Wikieup ... it does have its twisty parts and grades. Brickhaulers way is much better if you are heavy.

If you do decide to run 93, and like good Mesquite smoked BBQ hit up eat at joes in Wikieup (they have truck parking in back) Cheap prices, good people, amazing food. They are closed wendesdays.

US 93, Vegas-Phoenix, almost all 4 lane with civilization in Kingman. Watch out for Hoover Dam traffic on weekends approaching the new bypass from Vegas. US 95, Vegas-Phoenix via Needles/Vidal Jct./Parker, 2 lane, no civilization, other than Needles and Parker, and Searchlight. (POE into Az. at Parker has been boarded up recently).
