I have a CDL Class A and have not driven for the past six years. I'm 42 years old and live just west of Atlanta. I have good driving skills. Is there any owner operators out there hiring? The large companies don't want to pay you for any experience you have that is over three years old. I hope someone out there is looking for a dependable driver. I have Dry box and Reefer Exp.

I am starting a hot shot business in South Texas. I have just gained my authority, am starting with sales calls and bidding loads as of next week.
Here is my problem. I have come up with a pricing sheet but several people have told me that I am to low and that I also need to be charging a minimum trip charge. I don't want to start off to low because most of the time it is irreversible without causing hard feelings or losing the customer. Does anyone have any good advice or someway to get a pricing chart.
1 ton truck and a 40ft gooseneck flatbed.
Thx -
It's said that all one needs to end up with a small fortune in the truckin' industry, is to start with a large fortune. How many mistakes can you afford to make?
Considering that more small businesses fail than succeed, what's your plan for achieving success? Do you have a five-year forecast? Realistic plans are like a road map to chart your course so you'll know if you're on or off course. To approach any business venture haphazardly by just wingin' it, hopin' for the best, too often results in the worst.

I am a recent graduate of a CDL school in Philly, it is so hard to find a good company to start with because most of them want exp. drivers. I was offered a job with Swift Transp. and Trans Am. I have heard neg. things about both companies. Does anybody have any exp. with either one of these companies that could shed any light on which is better to train with. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

If you need experience find it lucky that you got an offer. Personally I would go with Swift but remember huge companies are pretty much all the same and you win some you lose some. Make what you got with those lemons and get some OTR under your belt for the "better" jobs down the line.

Has anybody heard anything bad about the school, my daughter set this up she's kinda quick on her decision for me to go there, I'm in Orlando Fl.I've only drove a 14' Ryder truck never considered a big rig occupation but, the times being what they are. I'm worried about passing this class plus they want $5900.for a 15 day class, they do give you application's for different companies But, don't garantee job placement, that sucks. Well, anyway I'm doing this for the daughter she loves me enough she took the loan out for me.I don't know if I can pass this class, I'm 55 and not as confident as I use to be.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

when we say nothing at all.
Have you ever held a CDL-A Commercial driver's license?
Do you have any experience driving a Big truck?
Is the quality of the training you receive of any importance to you?
