    back to your regularly scheduled topic

    I have an appointment with the WIA counsolor on monday, but can't officialy enrole in the program untill Feb 1.

    Got a letter from the VA today. got an appointment with the Vocational Rehab counsolor on tuesday. i want to make a career out of going to the VA, they are foing to pay me 41.5 cents a mile. the letter says it takes at least 2 appointments to determine elegibility(sp) they pay 100% of EVERYTHING. WIA will pay upto 3000 for upto 2 years.

    met with the wia counsolor today. he took all my "homework" from the last appointment. then we talked about schools and he called the local school that is NOT aproved by w/s. the guy acted like he never herd of w/s and said he could get me a job with any of the "blue chip" companies they work with. they are going to try to get on w/s aproved list though. so the counsolor gave me more homework and have to go back next thursday.

    hopefully my meeting with the va tomorow will be more productive.

    WS will take care of getting them approved, call your recruiter with the school's info and contact person(i.e. phone, fax and email) to make it quick and easy...It shouldn't take but a day or two...Good luck!

    got an e-mail from Sandy today. they did not approve the school that WIA wants to send me to. The school i'm looking at is "special aproval" by my Workforce office. They are not wanting to send me there because it is "out of thier area"

    trip to the va was a bust, except the check they are going to send me. I am not curently eligable for voc rehab because i'm not disabled. I am not disabled because the people in that department are sitting on my application. they got all the paperwork in november but are sitting on it untill i officialy retire next week. they "project" a decision by feb 16.

    I will probably get slammed for this no matter how I ask the question but I got to know.

    I'll admit upfront I don't know squat about the program or it's intended use.

    What's the deal with all the WIA stuff lately?

    I got laid off, had a mortgage to pay along with all the other bills and yet some how I was able to pay for my own school and books. I saved money and put it back for a rainy day. Another driver I know sold most all his tools and his pickup truck to pay for school.

    Why does there seem that there are sooooo many reliant on the gooberment these days?

    Mdub, Don't take it personally. I just seen a rash of the wia stuff lately and got to wondering. I'm not judging anyone or their situation.
