"Just a warning to all newbies. If u go to central refridgerated to get your cdl make sure you are learning from your trainer." --Shawn.
Sorry, but that's pretty much a given! What else would you be doing with your trainer? Shawn not bashing you but I have the feeling you are going to have problems no matter what company you go to. I would just throw the dart buddy and go for where it lands! I think in the long run you will find truck driving is not for you.
Smurfette, your doing super! Your going to have your days though and it sounds like that was one of them! Your lucky you didn't get held for 10 hours. Usually it is mandatory at the meat places. Smurfette one thing that may help you that I found really cool is Google Earth. You can look on there before heading to a shipper/receiver and see what the docks are like or how tight it is. You can also tell if there is parking around the place. It will also give you an indication of what the neighborhood is like. Whether it be in the country or in the hood. This will help you decide if it is going to be safe to sleep there. I know by now you probably already have a truck stop guide. That is pretty much your savior! My wife used to keep notes in the truck stop guide of secret little spots that she found to park or good little restaurants where you could get a big rig in.
Poolplytrucker, I'm stoked for you! The down side to driving for Central is that you will be very familiar with I-80! Wyoming=snow, Nebraska=wind, Iowa=terds! It is going to be rare for you to make it all the way across Wyoming without either shutting down or running across some bad parts of the road. That's just the way it is up there. If you look in your Atlas there is a phone number in the Wyoming section which you can call and they will give you road conditions by the mile marker. Program this number in your phone! This will be a great asset. In fact call it now and get familiar with it. It's very tempting out there especially with governed trucks to zoom down those long straight grades however you never know where there is going to be little patches of ice so be careful! Whatever the conditions take it slow, you will save on fuel at the very least and get a bonus! Good luck man, keep us posted and take pics!

I would have a group of owner OP's working together as the core partners/ owners of the company.
The only employee driver would be a local runner to grab loaded containers from the port. Would not hire him till we got going though. And would be a salary driver.
The owner OP's would be the road runners. Basically taking the loads they want, and not having to go to the ports most of the time, since the local runner would be dropping the loaded containers in our yard. -
Nebraska mm 45-48 7 jacknifes, CR England rolled over blocking I 80 west bound!
