400 watt hard wired to the battery, 200 through the cig lighter. It runs the PS3 better then the Asus G73 gaming laptop I carry with me.

the thing that's confusing the hell out of me is the cig lighter inverters. most trucks cig lighters are rated at 10 amps so being that it's 12 volts it's only 120 watts max through these cig lighters. I just bought the new slim ps3 today (old one coincidentally just broke after 4 years) and it's 96 watts during most games. Maybe I can get by with one cig lighter inverter for the ps3 and one cig lighter inverter for the tv? if of course my truck has more than 1 cig lighter.

I run a 19" SuperSonic HD flat screen. It runs on 12volt or 110. Its got a built in DVD player. It also has a USB input and will display jpegs, mpegs, windows media files.

How do satellite download/upload speeds measure up.

I know one company (can't remember which) gives another receiver free for RV folks. and when a truck is parked that is the same thing.

But you ahve to align an antenna and hope there is no rain or severe cloud cover.

Stay away from satellite. Ping is insane and speeds are subpar. It takes 800ms for a signal from your dish to hit the satellite. Now double it Thats in design, it cannot be improved. 99% online games do not work on it. The game servers usually drop you due to ping issues.

I had satellite for 2 weeks and canceled it before my 30 days expired. It was absolutely the worst ISP ever. 'Id rather have dialup than that crap. I had hughesnet btw. Wildblue is no better.
Satellite also has heavier data restrictions than an aircard.

I would like to comment on 4g networks. I have 4g thru sprint using my phone's(Epic 4g) hotspot. 80% of the fedex terminals I get 4g reception with sprint. Its still not perfect ping, but I been getting 90 to 120ms average. It's definitely an improvement. The download speeds are what really impresses me. I hit 19 megs in Denver and average 6 megs everywhere else. That is just below average cable speeds mind you. I haven't tested FPS games on it. But MMO games on it like Jumpgate and Starcraft II ran very well.
800mb movie downloads take minutes to download. Which is especially great when we are very busy. Sometimes we only have 15-30 minutes in the terminal till we hit the road again.

Just wanted to add my two cents... For the most part, T/A is the best one for playing on xbox live that I have found. I hate having to park at a Pilot, Love's or Flying J. Incidentally, all of them use the same company now for internet service.

I just hook an ethernet cable from laptop (compaq from walmart for 350) to my xbox - it's the best connection for being on the road. I tried one of those xbox live network adapters but if you need a password thru a webpage it doesn't work.

What I like to do is go to a truckstop and use speedtest.net to check the upload download speed. I have come across truckstops that offer wifi but their connection is less than 10 kb/s. So slowwwwww!

you can follow me on twitter @fantastictoo. Or on xbox live: fantastictoo.

    Good gaming!
