Mike... are you the same "TruckerMike" that has the videos on YouTube?
I assume you are... what are the odds that two Prime drivers would be out here in cyberspace calling themselves "TruckerMike"?
What was the camera & video editing software you were using?
BTW - My wife is PO'd at you big time for your camera quitting on that last series... she said that's like watching 7/8ths of a movie & not being able to see the end.![]()

Busted. I try to keep my videos completely separate from Prime, although I did slip in a couple pictures of my truck on a slide show or two. You'll notice in my actual videos though, I never state who I drive for or film the outside of the truck. But yes, that's me.
I was using a JVC Everio camcorder with a built in hard drive. It's one of the lower end hard drive camcorders. The thing is totally busted at this point. I used PowerDirector Pro to edit the videos.
I'm glad your wife enjoyed the videos enough to be PO'd that my camera quit!
Subscribe to my channel. I'll have a new camcorder in the near future.
I'm almost hesitant to make more videos to be honest. I started it as just something fun to do, but it's gotten a bit more attention than I expected. I don't know the exact policies that Prime has on that sort of thing, which is why I try not to mention who I work for in the videos. I certainly don't want to risk my job over it. So we'll see what happens.ironpony, Dix_ and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
If it makes you feel any better Mike, I doubt anyone that hasn't been researching Prime heavily & paying good attention during the videos would be able to say with any certainty that you work for Prime while watching... I kind of "half suspected" that was the case only because of the name & your posts here.
It wasn't until you showed and described the Denver terminal that I had it figured out for sure... only because it matched so well a description of the joint in a conversation between Iron Pony, Sazook, & Co over on PrimeDrivers.org.... "A mobile home on a parking lot in Denver" HAD to be Prime.
The camera certainly did a better job than many... on your videos you can hit pause & actually read #### near every road sign... that can't be said for a lot of trucking videos on YouTube... & the editing capabilites of the software is impressive for a program that's under $100... nice job.
I hear you on Prime maybe being a bit "funny" on having their name attached... I probably should have asked in a PM rather than an open post... brain-f*rt... I must be getting old.... I didn't even think about that aspect of it.
IMO, the attention they are getting simply speaks volumes about the amount of work & thought you put into them.... they really are very well done, thought out, & edited with just the right balance between "on the road" clips & commentary... most trucking videos can get boring & uninteresting after the 1st 5 minutes... not those... supurb job on 'em all around.
Heck, if I were in Prime's marketing dept. I'd throw you a few bucks of advertising money to slip the company logo in the intros... the only negative thing you had to say throughout the whole shootin' match had to do with substitute/weekend/3rd-string benchwarmer dispatchers... what large company doesn't have those?
What ever happened to the empty pallets?.... campfire & marshmallows?

Prime knows about it now. Most companies have been watching truckers forums for quite some time. Anything with their name on it and they are all over it.

WHAT ?????

Well glad you guys enjoy them! That's what matters. And I do appreciate the kind words. I enjoy making them and I love getting messages / emails from people who found them interesting.
Oh yeah, those pallets. Oye. I called the shipper and they said "no problem, we'll take them from you." Ok, great. I got loaded and just assumed those pallets were gone. But after I delivered, what was stacked in the front of the trailer? Seven empty pallets.
I ended up going to a Blue Beacon truck wash and after some convincing, they took them from me, for a small fee which Prime had no problem paying. Too bad I couldn't find a place close by that would have bought the pallets from me. Oh well.
As far as Prime finding out about the videos, I'm not naive. I've always known that there was a chance, and a good chance, they'd find out about it at some point. Anything I put online, be it in writing, text, photos, etc., I assume is public and everyone will find it. Most companies, in fact, have policies about talking about them in online forums, yet here we are. At my last job (non-trucking) the guy who sat next to me in the office got fired for that very thing.
If they have a problem with the videos, I wouldn't hesitate to take them down. But I suspect it won't be a problem, and it's quite possible they've already known about the videos for quite some time. But that's just one more reason I don't mention on the videos who I work for.
Heck, some companies like May Trucking actually have several YouTubers and the company loves the attention. It's like a free recruiting ad for them. In fact, one of their YouTubers was asked to make some recruiting vidoes for them as they were so impressed with his skills, and he took them up on the offer making several of May Truckings current recruiting videos.
In any case, hopefully more videos will be coming soon. I've got some really great ideas for new ones.
