As most know, each company has their own recruiters to work with potential drivers. However, there are also recruiters thru different forums, Craigslist, Monster, etc, that work with several companies.
Can someone enlighten us on the advantages/disadvantages of using one of these recruiters?
Thanks in advance for all the info posted and shared here, great place.

there really are no advantages between the company recruiter or the headhunters.....they work with several companies....a recruiter is a recruiter
-
Recruiters are the "best of the best"of used car salesmen...They have taught me one thing, going all the way back to my 3 year military tour,- How do you know when a recruiter is lying??- When their lips are moving...
IMO,cut from the same cloth as a TS liz, hustler, drug dealer,etc...Such is the world in which we live, deal with em,and "drive" on..

Careful Bumpy.......................
ya got military recruiters right here on this board !!!!!!
Some of them are OK.
Now trucking recruiters are terrible, except pumpkins, they were 100% honest !!!! -
I'd go directly to the company recruiter. They tend to have more accurate information than an outside recruiter. Just remember...if it's important to you, get it in writing!
rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Thanks guys. I have a little advantage over a total newbie, in that I have been out there before, but off the road for awhile (couple years). I only drove for one company before, and went thru the company recruiter. I am now in contact with a "headhunter" and didn't want to show up to a new company, and get the "cold shoulder" or sent home from orientation basically because I didn't work with the company recruiters.

After hearing this over and over I tried my damnedest to trip up my recruiter. Nope never could.. even some of the trucking recruiters are OK and not orange.

Some, not most !!!

A lot of this biz entails "networking". So, you actually want to chat with anyone and everyone pertaining to the trucking world. (Knowledge is power). So, talking with "headhunters" and listening very closely, is an advantage. Besides, if you get past the "headhunter" phase of recruiting, you will be dealing with the truck company personnel, right ? The original "headhunter" will have done his job by forwarding your app to the prospective company.
