So, my husband has been with CRST Dedicated for a little over 3 months now. I can't complain about the route. It's Sunday through Friday, dedicated run, same each week, about 5000 team miles. The problem I have is with the snow through the midwest last week, they didn't return home last week until Monday. Therefore, if they wanted to keep they're dedicated run, they would have to sit the week and wait until the follow Sunday to go out. Fine, one week of missed pay, but I get my husband for a week! So, yesterday (Thursday) he gets a call from corporate stating he needed to be at the Fontana, CA (60 miles away) on Friday morning at 8am for a log audit. (He is so straight, no idea why he's being audited). So he shows up at 8am on his day off and has been sitting for over 6 hours. Now he is told that his co-driver needs to be audited also before they can drive again! They sat ALL WEEK! Why couldn't his be done Monday or Tuesday? It's Friday afternoon and he's been sitting in an office all day, not getting any pay, waiting to hear if he'll be able to work next week. CRST does not care at all about it's drivers. Our family cannot go 2 weeks in a row without my husband's paycheck. All because of no communication or lack of organization at the corporate level.

that really does suck and unfortunatly i have heard of that happening before from other companies as well,i guess its just the way it is now all across the board you know?i hope he gets that behind him and gets rolling again soon.
-
I can understand how upsetting that can be. I would be pissed to. But unfortunately this type of thing seems to happen ALOT in the trucking industry. Its not just a CRST issue, as sad as that sounds. Its like they have no idea how to pre-plan anything ahead of time.
-
The good ole days of trucking are sho nuff gone
-
These big companys act like this because they can. for every driver that leaves, a new guy is there to fill the seat. I don't think its ever gonna change.
-
It is becoming more and more common place at Crst to pull moves like that
-
Is there no comp time or admin time paid? Shouldn't there be some kind of "admin or office" pay for the audit time? A company employee that is required to be at any kind of function is due some kind of wage much like orientation or in-house training. I know lawyers rarely look into this issue but how can an employee be legally compelled to be somewhere on company orders without company pay or benefits?
-
Well a lot of the trucking co's figure u should only get paid when rolling nothing else. They get away with a lot of "free" time so to speak.
-
It's kind of simple really..You tell CRST that when they are ready to pay you for your time, then you will be happy to sit for hours and have your logs audited. If not, stay home..Oh I forgot.."It's a lifestyle"..If your willing to give up your time for free, then that is all that your time is worth..Not me, I get paid for everything or I don't do it.

File for and get unemployment or assistance!
See how fast something happens!
But do it Monday AM and be standing at the doors when they open before all the illegals get there or it could take all day! Take any paper work with you that you'll need such as:
SSI cards for family and husband
marriage license
power bill and phone bill showing your legal place of residence
maybe your last tax file or 2 years to be safe
your rent or house payment statement and your last 3 bank statements.
Anything else if hubby is still at home have him bring it down to you but go prepared!
Also take handi wipes to clean those nasty seats and your hands if you touch anything!
a thermos of coffee or drink NOT just a bottle!
your OWN ink pen black ink like one of his Pilots he uses to do his log!
Your family comes first and this is what you'll need to do as CRST being the BFI they are will attempt to have him turned down but he's sitting at their office and not getting paid so take it from them.
NOW: Have him IN FRONT OF THIS MORON auditor fill out his log book on duty not driving for ALL HIS TIME he's sitting at the office! He can NOT do as they will tell him and show this as line 1 off duty which they want him to do as it will benefit them and yes him except for 2 things. He will not be able to use this document for proof he's sitting at an office 60+ miles away from home for office work while not getting paid which is what you want is money from CRST someway and also CRST can't come back and get him for falsifying his log showing line 1 while he was line 4 which has happened because it befits the BFI telling a driver to falsify his logs which "But officer we don't tell our drivers toi do something so illegal!" In fact I'd go line 4 when he gets in the car for the company nesscairy trip to the yard and go back to line 1 when he gets home! he will need to show a lunch break and any other break BUT ONLY those! Any time he's sitting at the yard waiting for someone to pull it out is line 4! By law Americans are allowed 1 lunch and 2 breaks. For him to be sitting at CRST's place of business on his time is on them and the log book as a DOT cop CAN write him a ticket for falsifying his log if he sees him there or knows he was there with no lines drawn. It can be done so don't stick your toe in those waters!
COVER HIS ARSE!
log it as he's doing it! He gets in the car at 0730 he's line 4. He gets to the yard draw a line and flag it as CRST Yard at wherever, then go on a break at 0930 for 15 minutes and back to line 4 till lunch at 1200 through 1230 and then another break and then when he gets home and flag it as at home! If he finally goes into an office then he flags it in front of the fool as in office doing audit and flag it when he come out but do it like a load!
Have copies of his log to show the agent you'll be working with at the DFS or whoever it is.
Apply for food stamps and yes Medicaid!
Get everything you can and do NOT be afraid to ask for it!
Then get your husband get a REAL job and quit driving a truck for that piddling chump change we all know these BFI's pay a team at less than $.25 a mile to split! ROFLMFAO!
CRST a pock on trucking!formertaxidriver Thanks this.
