Super Single Tires

I think that's about it, but you forgot that putting 650hp to a driveline spec'd for a 550 will instantly turn to scrap as soon as you let the clutch out.

 

Would i go out and spend $5,500 on a set hell no!!!
I see lots of sets of them on the net there is a set for $1,200 i seen a few days ago if you need tires and can get a set for $1,200 why not i got one for $200 in houston one day the guy said nobody wanted them its easier to sale reg tires than these

The wheels are 22.5x14(aluminum) $400 each
The tires (michelin) X one XDA-HT $950 each

Not to many guys are going to run out and spend that kind of $$$ when you can go get a set of 100% drive tires for $3,300 or less

 

IMO if our going to run sngles you almost are better offer ordering it from factory with them, along with the specific axles for the singles to make the tread width the same as a set of duals so there not as "tippy" as everyone claims.

 

The trick is to go low rolling resistance, and make up the difference (and more) through fuel savings. That gets easier as the price of diesel climbs - which looks like exactly where we're going as the world economy heats up.

Set of 4 wide singles and wheels at your price: $5400

So that's about $2100 difference between a set of new wide singles and 8 new duals. At $3 per gallon, and a half mpg improvement from say 6.8 mpg, you need to run about 70,000 miles to break even - after that its all in your pocket. Lets say you can get 300,000 miles out of a set of tires - that's just under $7000 to you.

 

Diesel is more like $3.50/gal now.

 

A month ago when I posted that it wasn't... all the more reason to move to a low rolling resistance wide-single tire.

My last set of drives(XDA-HT+) I got 270,000 miles, still had 6/32nds left.Pete 379exhd, 6NZ Cat at 475, 80K, 90% loaded, 6.69 mpg this week....no duals for me thank you.

 

make sure you check the rolling resistance of the stuped singles my last set (company truck) XDA got 6.6-6.7 avg and now we have the XDN2 on it and the milage is running 6.2-6.3. we run the same load all the time 6820ml a week same weight 26k-32k

 

I had one go flat yesterday driving with 76,000lbs, dropped trailer once I realized it, as it wasn't noticeable at all, and it drove fine until I got to place to get it fixed...
