Thinking about going to truckload for my cdl. I know they use Crossed but want some more info. Do you pay anything up front? Are your meals paid for? Any other info would be appreciated.

You get pre-hired first and as long as you qualify they'll get you going. As long as you get through school, orientation and with your trainer, they will cover about 2/3 the cost of the schooling. They set you up with Crowder College in Missouri for your CDL training (1 1/2 month wait right now). They will provide you with a bus ticket. You pay $1300 for your CDL training, and another $600 for housing and that includes 3 meals per day. Expect to spend another $300 for licensing and other misc fees. Total out-of-pocket will be around $2200. School is 5 weeks long, you graduate on a Friday and have orientation on Monday. You'll get assigned a trainer shortly after orientation, driver 7500 miles(approx. 3 weeks). I believe you're paid .26/mile during that time.

Here's a link to the school you would be attending. You can get some good information about the school there.

Hmm that is still a pretty big cost. Did you look into local community colleges? In South Dakota you can get your cdl from a community college for 1500....plus you would not be stuck with one company after you graduate.

Yea, I guess it just depends where you're located. Community College doesn't offer CDL training here. Cheapest school here is $3600. Some people may think the schooling is a little pricey but to lined up with a legitment company and making money right after you graduate is worth it, personally. Not to mention, Crowder is one of the highest ranked CDL schools in the country.

And you're not stuck with Conway after you graduate. You're not obligated to stay on with them for a certain amount of time, just finish your time with your trainer and you'll be free to choose to work for any other company if you desired. I can't speak for everyone else but I don't plan on swapping companies every other month.

I'm not a recruiter or anything for Conway, just giving some info to the person asking for it.
