If you're going to be in the Denver area on friday, 2/4/11.....STAY OFF THE SIDEWALKS!

    I'm testing.....

Any pointers? I know, relax and all that. I'm just going to be on pins and needles till then. I'm excited, and scared. Not sure which emotion is stronger at the moment. There is definately an unhealthy dose of anxiety in there as well.

I'm gonna try to remember high school tests, and military tests.....I know the job, know how to do it, know I can do it, and try to treat the test the same. I never had so many butterflies in my stomach for those, this shouldn't be any different. Right?

    RIGHT?

Once you get through your first few gears and around your first corner, you will settle down. You gotta make it past your air brake and pre trip before that though. You'll be alright!

During my test, I passed my pre trip, and my instructor insisted he not be late for his 15 min break. So I had a chance to get a breather, knowing that part was over and I could focus on my driving.

Well, after 2 delays due to weather and equipment issues....I"m going today to test. Its supposed to be 60. They rescheduled due to snow/ice the first time, then the day I was supposed to test (second day) was below 0 and some jackwagon set the trailer brakes and froze them solid, so they rescheduled again.....today is the day.

I am a bit upset about the rescheduling, as I've been out of the truck for 3 weeks now. Hopefully my nerves will settle before I start the skills portion of the test. I'm fine when I've been driving for a few minutes, so I should be ok once I get through the airbrakes portion.....its just a big difference going from my little Cavalier to a 70' long jointed beast.

Thanks, one less person to worry about.......I HOPE they don't make me drive that far! On that note though, you should stay off them anyway, someone MIGHT be testing near you!

RatherB, RELAX!!! If you are nervous or have a lot of anxiety you will get more brain farts! You will be fine man. Whenever you start to get nervous or scared just remember I told you my wife did it and she passed so there's no reason you can't. Good luck to you, go with flow!

oh, I'm not really nervous. Anxious, sure....I want to be done with it. Scared? A little maybe, the tester seems like an ok guy though. I suppose I am a little nervous, but not really the bad, "screw stuff up" nervous. Just jittery, thank goodness I don't have to have a physical with my test today, I'm sure my heart rate and blood pressure would be WAY off normal. I'll be ok. I know the job, I know how to do it, I have done it, and can do it again. Mostly, I think I'm just excited. I'm a little sad though, because even getting tested today, I'll have to go back out tomorrow and get my permit turned into a real license. I hate the DMV.....that place always manages to drive me insane. I suppose I should get ready to go though, appointments in just over an hour, and its a 30 minute drive.....the closer I get the more I feel the nerves.....I'll be ok though.

Good luck on your test man! I think they should let you do your driving test at orientation before your blood pressure test. I think it would help a lot of drivers. No matter what it is stressful. You'll do fine though. Just keep a clear head so you don't forgot anything while you are testing. Remember to constantly check both of your mirrors. You get side tracked trying to remember all the important stuff while testing and sometimes forget the little stuff. They do grade on mirror checks. Keep in mind to never let her coast out of gear and don't shift over R&R tracks.

Oh yeah, don't forget the seat belt!

I was nervous too, but you will calm down as you hit your stride in the pre-trip. ;)
