I drive a 2004 Freightliner Century with what I believe are the factory antennas hooked to a cobra 29. Until the last ice storm this set up worked fine for me. I could talk to shippers/receivers, get info on whatever kerfuffle was impeding the road, and have the occasional conversation with other trucks governed at 60. After the ice storm my send/receive radius is down to less than a half mile.

I'm wondering what the most likely problem is and what my best options are for getting decent reception again? I

Unscrew the connecting wire on the mirror, sandpaper the end of it/wd-40 on it/put it back together. Do both antenna's. That should do it. If not, do the same to the CB ground wire and maybe pos. wire, too. Those road chemicals get in there and you lose good connection. See other solutions on this thread that are already mentioned.
