Ok so had a long 14 hour day last night/today.
Was up in Rochelle, Il picking up at Sara lee heading back to Gas City. Ran out of hours at Sara Lee while getting loaded, but made it over to Petro to shut down, I didn't get hours back till 2100, and it is a 5 1/2 hour trip back to Gas City, my DM tried to give me a preassigned load with a dock out time of 0041, three store stops and must deliver all stops by 0600. I was like there is NO WAY I can do that, as I wouldn't get back to gas city till between 0300-0330.
So what did they do? They changed the pickup appointment to 0245, still deliver all stops by 0600. I LMAO and still told them no. So they pulled that load off me
So I am almost back to the DC when night dispatch called me said they had a load sitting on the yard with only 2 stops plus a backhaul from Anderson, In Nestle., but it too had to deliver by 0600. Noblesville, In and Indianapolis, In, ok noblesville is still an hour and a 15 minutes from Gas City I told them that I would run with it, but I couldn't guarentee I'd finish by 0600, they were cool with that as I was the only truck that would have hours that could run with it.
So I get back to Gas City, drop my loaded trailer, get my paperwork for the new load, check out the trailer everything seems to be good to go.
I don't get 30 miles down the road when the reefer craps out, I get a RED light on it. Keep in mind the reefers I pull have 3 zones, so I can have 3 different temperatures setpoints. There are 3 small reefers attached to the ceiling of the trailer and they are seperated by bulkheads for each zone.
So I pull over at a truckstop to check it out, the reefer has shut off, I turn it back on, it runs for about a minute and shuts down. So I call dispatch, they tell Walmart, Walmart says to take it to Thermo King in Indianapolis.
Ok go to TK, am met by not one, not two, but THREE TK guys who all seperatly got Emergency Callout.
It was throwing codes for low oil pressure, so they thought it was the oil pressure sensor, they changed that, still couldn't get it to run, they replaced the oil pump, same thing, they thought it might be a clogged oil line, no dice. Then they said the only other thing it could be is bad oil return line in one of the zones, but they would need to break the seal to get into the trailer. Walmart had a cow, and after 2 hours though decided to let the TK guys break the seal.
OMFG. As soon as the door was opened we saw what the problem was. When someone loaded this trailer they used a forklift and ripped one of the zone reefers off the celing and it was laying on top of the pallets, and EVERYTHING was covered with oil as it was spraying out, keep in mind I had a fresh produce load so everything had oil on it. Now the zone reefers have a metal bar cage around them to protect them from this kind of thing, and the front of it was all crushed in, so what had to of happened is when it was loaded they hit it from the front, put the forks down, then raised them up to try to back the forklift out and yanked it down from the back.
So instead of taking the trailer out of service, they finished loading it, and sealed it up. Sitting on the yard the reefer was running fine. But from the boucing going down the road must have been too much for it to stay running.
So after much discussion Walmart had me drop that trailer there at Thermo King, they are going to have to write off the whole load.
So I had to go hunt for an Empty to go make my Pickup in Anderson, my appointment time was 0700, I didn't get here till 0930 and of course ran out of hours on my 14 sitting in the dock, I am parked up front in the staging area. At least there is Wi-Fi here.

Hazmat can't go in the tunnel and have to take loveland pass unless they close it, then they shut the tunnel down to allow hazmat to go thru. I don't have hazmat so I went thru. 1 mile outside the west tunnel entrance was ice about 3/4 way down

Has been answered many times before. Industry standard, one day off for every week you are out on the road for a maximum of 4 days off. Must request time off 9 days prior
