Rerun is right. I knew that going in. I'm not really complaining about the quality of training, promise. The guys like family, he did what I wanted him to do. Get me comfortable with handling the beast. I've driven trailers most of my life, just not that big. I know how to make them go where I want....like I said, even the tester said I set them up perfect. I just let my nerves get the best of me. Heck, I docked a 28 foot can between 2 other trucks on ice! I put a 45 footer into the tightest spot I could find in a truck stop. I know how to back, I just "brain farted".

It was a brain fart, but it got me thinking.....and talking. The guy I was going to work for is looking at getting out of the business. Selling the 2 trucks and just giving it up. I may not have a job even if I pass the damnable tests. (can I say that word?) Which puts me back at the problem of not having a certificate from an accredited school. Who will hire me without that? NO ONE. :biggrin_25510: Is it my fault? Yeah, I was hoping to skip that step. It is my fault. I'm currently talking with the tester, to see if I can strip down the test, and just get my B class. I can sling trash, or haul local junk for a few years in a straight truck.

My wife is still throwing fits about the idea of me going with an OTR company, so is my daughter. They didn't mind the idea of me being gone 5-6 days a week doing short haul stuff, but the idea of a few weeks to months on the road at a time is just not something they want to put up with now. I guess I should feel lucky, after 16 years, you'd think they'd WANT me to go away........I just know I want to be working, yesterday......I can't provide for them with the little bits I'm getting now. Work is so hard to find around here still, its there, but its tight. I see 20+ CDL/OTR jobs posted every day......and less than half of them are CDL mills. I figured I always wanted to drive a truck, ever since my step mothers, father let me ride along with him when I was 14.

I've had it with the stress of it all though. I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, and neither of them looks like it might give an inch any time soon. I know I can pass the B test.....I've been driving for 20+ years, and have driven alot of box trucks and RV's and Uhauls. I even parked a 24' box truck parallel in downtown Denver, on a week day. Had to pay 3 meters, but I got it in there. I know I can do that. I'm not gonna give up though....I have a dream, and it involves a big truck.....with a trailer. Maybe in a few years. Daughter might get sick of me by then. Anyone know when daddies girls give up their need to have daddy around all the time?:biggrin_255:
