I absolutly refuse to take a 10hr break 2hrs from the house. I run milk in the northwest region and it takes me about 16hrs to run my route. When I start my day I take a 3hr nap on the way to my first stop, I finish the route and take it to the house. I'm sorry but I just can't see having someone tell me when I'm tired and to take a break. I know there are lots of puppets that will say that the government knows best....and I will pray for you lol. I realize the reason for the regs but like I said unlike some I KNOW when I'm tired.

And I know this sounds random but think about it....if the government is really concerned about our safety they would make the sale of cigaretes illegal. Its been proven time and again that they WILL shorten your life. What's really funny is some of these same ones that preach running legal is the safe way are the same ones ya see puffin on those stinkin cigs.

Well not all of us, I don't smoke but I know the point your trying to make.I don't want to be misunderstood,so I'll try to be a lil more clearer.I don't like the HOS.nor do I think whatever they come up with is the perfect fix for every operation. In fact the simple fact that they are only there to generate revenue makes me sick, but look back to my last post.Is it really worth the risk? Really?!!! I don't like the thought of sleeping in a trk. 2 hrs. from home either. But I have done it a time or 2 all it takes is 1 time to ruin your driving career if you were to get into an serious accident and they go through you logbook with a fine tooth comb.you are done mister.Done! go straight to jail, do not pass go ,no get out of jail free card.I have seen it happen to 2 drivers that were very close friends of mine.Sorry it ain't worth it to me just to spent 10 more hrs or even an extra day at home I would rather miss time at home then spend the rest of my life in the gray bar motel.you might get away with it for several years.you might not NEVER get caught but it's not worth the risk to me to roll that dice.knock on wood I have never had a logbook violation. For several years back when I was young and dumb and full of vinegar I rolled the dice mostly God and a little luck, I never had nothing happen.now that I'm a lil older and a lil bit more wiser I can see that it never did make me any more money and if you think it makes you look like a hero to your company you are sadly mistaken. lip service is free don't cost them nothing.A few ata boys ain't worth it to me.I make between $900-$1100/week and home every week don't consider this great money by no means, but sure beats looking over your shoulder everyday wondering if/when your going to be checked just to make and extra $150-$200/week not to mention the stress is no longer there.that's worth all the money in the world to me.

Alcohol should be illegal too. They tried that once, and it didn't work did it? What happens when the government wants to make something you do illegal?

and no I am not on EOBR and yes I use loose leaf logs because thats what the company provides.if you really think about it no matter how legal a person trys to run there is nobody who is 100% legal how many of us sit in a trkstp log off duty and sitting in the drivers seat thats not legal.

Lilbit....you gotta be kiddin me. Alcohol in moderation is NOT a risk to ones health....now remember I said MODERATION. Cigarettes are harmfull in any and all quantities, and I take it that you are one of those that choose to smoke. The point I was making is very simple....its a MONEY grab and little else. Kinda like the seatbelt thing as well....its mainly about money. Cigarettes are a HUGE tax revenue for the government so they allow the sale/use of it KNOWING you will most likely die from the use of it.

Most people don't know how to moderate when it comes to alcohol. Yet it is still allowed even though drunks have killed other people on the road.

It's a personal choice while it's legal. It's been around for centuries too.

Seriously though, what happens when the government makes something YOU do illegal?

Bingo! And folks (fellow truckers included) buy right into it.
Why haven't these names come up in this discussion?

    MADD
    P.A.T.T.
    CRASH

They are vocal special interest groups who specialize at tugging at heartstrings with inaccurate, distorted data that the general public(and lawmakers) can't get enough of.
Our society(in which reading is a rarity and video is rapidly becoming the norm) is highly susceptible to flashly soundbites and unsubstantiated claims.
