Is there anybody out there that is on Roehl's 14/7 program? I start CDL school next week and have a pre-hire from Roehl for the 14/7 program, but want to know what I can realisticly expect for miles. The recruiters will blow smoke up you ##### and promise the world, so I don't trust when they say you can make up to 42k your first year. That just means i can make anywhere between $1 and 42k.
I'm also having second thoughts after reading the posts about the APUs shutting down after just 2 hours. Any other pitfalls I should be aware of?
I also have a prehire from Watkins & Shepard, but I like the hometime that Roehl offers.
Thanks for any help.

If you run hard you might be able to get close to 42K. Running 120K miles would gross you 38100. With quarterly bonuses, yearly bonus and other pay you would get closer. Running 14/7 you won't be able to get that of course.

ok here is the deal, you can expect a average of 2000 to 2400 per week. Sometimes more sometimes less due to where you are at and availible freight. Ive tried staying out for weeks at a time, and yes you make more money, but not a significant amount.
In other words is staying out longer worth the sacrafice you and your family are making for a extra money ? I know times are tuff and families and individules are
doing what ever it takes to make ends meet. If you are single and no ties no cares then go for it. Myself im on a hometime fleet and my gross running 7/4 7/3 was
33k for 2010. Hope this helps you out and safe miles !briarhopper and EV87 Thank this. -
Hello kazak88,
I also have a prehire from Roehl, looking at the 14/7 and will start school next week with Katlaw in Austell. Where will you be schooling at?
After running the numbers time and time again on the 14/7 at .30 with an average of 400 miles per day. (going by numbers I got from Majestyk on another thread)
This run should pay $1680 per 21 day cycle or $28,560 per year. Now that is without any raises accounted for. Year 2 # .36 should pay $2016 for the same miles in the 21 day cycle which is $34,272 per year.
As the economy picks up (hopefully) there should be more miles, but how many can a person run per day, given traffic, construction, waiting on dispatch and on and on...Matti_M80 Thanks this. -
Thanks guys. Bossfrog I start Monday at Daly's in Buford, right by Lake Lanier. I'm going through the WIA program through unemployment and Daly's one of 3 schools approved by WIA for my area. I live 15 minutes from Daly's and the other 2 were GA driving Academy and America's Driving Force. Both are off I285 towards the airport, about a 45 minute drive without traffic. But with traffic 1 1/2 hour drive each way, so it was no brainer picking Daly's.
Maybe we'll be in the same orientation class at Reohl, right now they are at the top my list for prehires. -
Yea i've seen there trucks in Buford, I worked with Gwinnett Fire for 22 years, many years in Suwanee, Buford and Sugar Hill. I'm in the Woodstock area so Katlaw is closer for me and cheaper.
I've got Roehl at the top of my list also, what I don't know about is the high mileage tractors. Sure would be nice to have something with only 300 or 400k miles instead of 600 - 700k miles.
Rohl told me to call as soon as I make up my mind to get into orientation quickly after class.
Word is they may have an 8 day orientation paying $600, then Evol I paying 90 a day. Nothing for sure on that. I got it from another thread and ask about it when I called. From what she said it is being done at 1 orientation location but not sure when or if it comes to Ga. I figure we got 3 weeks for them to get it here lol.... -
Roehl is in the process of testing trucks, they have 20 to 30 trucks from several manufacturers, and they are seeing what the pitfalls are, as well as the driver comfort. I expect they will be making a decision in the next few months if frieght continues to pick up, and they will update most of the fleet in the next year and a half to two years. They are also working to update the trailer fleet, esp the the flatbeds. So new stuff is coming in every day. So I wouldn't worry a whole lot if you get a truck with a few miles on it, you probably won't be in it for long.

I drive for Roehl on the 14/7 plan. My gross last year was just over 35k which including some sign on bonus.

My son has been with watkins shepard for a while and for 2010 he got 1965 mile a week average & has now quit to go to another co. so take this into account . at 25 cents you can make 25500 a year with little time home. They tell you 2600 miles, but never happens. It looks like they are going to sell the company so the equipment is in bad shape. Almost all of the trailers leak and need to be fixed before you can get some loads. and this time is time you just give away while a shop seals the roof.
I am not sure where you should go but this would be my last pick.

I hope to get into the next orientation, and will also be doing the 14/7 fleet. I live in N Illinois, and will drive either to Oak Creek, Wi or Madison, Wi if given the choice.
