Yes, congrats on the new job. I guess i'll be with Roehl in a couple of weeks.
Where was your orientation and how long was it. Did you hear anything about the orientation going to 8 days long instead of I think its 3 now?
Headed to RDTC

run that auto shift in manual mode and you can shift quicker and keep ur rpms down. Then once ur up to cruising speed put it back in auto for the down shifts. -
Good advice. I've found that to be true, though I leave it in manual all the time; keeps my thinking on manual mode. My last fill netted me 6.419 MPG. Still not where I want to be but its above my fuel minimum set by the company. Thanks for your advice.

Hello BCinOH, I've been reading about your experiences. Congratulations on getting your CDL and moving on into the EVO phase! It sounds like you're doing great so far.
I wanted to ask you a quick question if I could. You mentioned that a guy was sent home on Day 2 because he had trouble crouching under the trailer on the pre-work screen. I'm hoping to get my training at RDTC sometime soon. I feel fairly confident about most of it, but I have some knee trouble. How much crouching did you guys have to do in the pre-work screen? I can crouch down and get under there, but I wouldn't want to do too much crawling around under there. Do you think that is going to be a big issue for me? I'd hate to go all the way out there and be sent home. -
It's interesting to read others having the same anxiety I had before attending orientation. Rest assured Zangief, the physical part of the orientation was nothing physical. The crouching was just that. You crouch down under a trailer in front of the tandem wheels and read a list of items one would be looking for in a pre-trip inspection, no crawling around. The one thing that does most drivers in is their heart rate. If you can't walk around a truck and trailer without getting winded, you will probably exceed your heart rate limit and wash out. If you are in any kind of physical shape you will have no problem.
Best wishes to you.Zangief Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info Sprinks. I'm not in the greatest shape right now, but I'm going out and taking some long, brisk walks for a couple weeks, so hopefully that will be enough to get me through.
