Agreed. I always put my guard up when a christian has to tell me they are a christian. Sorry but it's a red flag, its not words, it's a lifestyle.

On a side note to "the bigger the cross, the faster the knife" (paraphrased) mentioned above.

The more I think about it, the more I believe my continued assertions that I am not Christian may have saved my bacon. I was approached by another driver in a rest area in broad daylight. He had seen me fueling my truck earlier before leaving the truck stop I had roosted at the night before. He asked whether I was the "girl in the motorcycle jacket" he had seen earlier. Something about the way he looked at me before saying anything put me on guard. I agreed that I was the same person he had seen earlier. And then I went into the ladies room.

When I came out, he seemed to be gone. I was getting my dog out when he came around the front of my truck. I acted like I didn't trust my dog to behave himself and continued. The guy watched for a minute (I was parked somewhere in the middle, but there were no trucks to my left...the side I always get the dog out on.) And, as AJ found "his" spot to pee, he said he just wanted to "bless me" and tried to hand me a large wall cross (about 10" high, 6" wide)...I said that I'm not a Christian, but thank you anyway. He hung around for another minute or two trying to close the distance I kept between us, but watching my dog at the same time.

When he saw I wasn't going to suddenly "convert" to Christianity (yeah, right...like that's what he really wanted) nor was I going to allow him to get close to me, and I let AJ between us, but still acting like he could bite at any second, he finally gave up and returned to his truck.

Christianity (among other religions) has been used far too much as a tool to get ahead or to pull one over on the other guy. Whoever quoted the wolf-in-sheep's-clothing verse above is spot-on. It is not what The Christ had in mind.

I worked for a broker back in 99-00, when you called in and they put you on hold, instead of music you heard Bible verses. I lasted 14 months before the money finally dried up(you had to sit at the office in order to get a check)! I finally left and I'm still waiting for my last settlement check eleven years later. I got a judgement through the courts, but the IRS and the state are one and two in front of me. Kind of leaves a bad taste....Could have been worse, he got a lot of guys for a lot more than I'm owed. He's still in business, just under another name.

As a confirmed, but non-practicing Athiest :biggrin_25525:, I prefer to look at it like this: You can be a good person and help others, and not be religious (Christian, Buddhist, Islamic, who cares...), But just because you're religious does NOT automatically make you a good person.
One does NOT necessarily equate to the other.

Cases in point: jihadists, The Irish Republican Army (Provisional, Real, Official, whatever), Spanish priests in the 15th century, Certain catholic priests in the present, Aum Shinrikyo (also known as Aleph), and the good ol' boy klukkers of the Ku Klux Klan.

I will readily admit to knowing plenty of folks who are religious and are wonderful people who truly try to help their fellow man. I'm not attacking those who choose to believe in religion, just those who profess to believe and, in truth, are nothing more than thinly veiled bigots, zealots, and/or hypocrites.

When I see this type of behavior and I have I am reminded what Christ said about the Pharisees. They stood on the street and prayed loudly so all could see, professed their love and goodness and would condemn you in a heartbeat. Christ called them hypocrites. Do not loudly proclaim your faith and when it's time to pray go to a place where you are alone and pray. In other words, don't flaunt your faith and beliefs, do it quietly and without fanfare. When someone acts like the Pharisees I run the other way.

It makes me mad when people hide behind Christianity and not live up to the standards of it since I myself am a true Christian. Jesus said, you know my people by the fruit they bare. If you meet someone who says they are a Christian and they lie about their address, they are disobedient in all their ways, and act disrespectful to everyone they are not a true Christian.

The worst thing that I left out in the original posting were the "uninvited guests" he left behind in my truck....BEDBUGS!! At first, I didn't know what they were but I kept finding them everywhere. I had to pay to get the truck fumigated which cost another pretty penny. As I cleaned out his belongings, I stumbled upon a box of used condoms...that explained the bedbugs and how this guy really lives. He is so sad and a poor example of true Christians!!

At least have a warning in the title saying something about religion so unsuspecting people like myself won't open the thread.... Man, you people are inconsidderate.

I have to agree. The two religous people I've worked for have been less than pleasant jobs. They must go to church to beg for forgiveness every sunday. Or maybe just going is enough. Who knows how those crazies think.

This is the best thread I have read on the internet in a lone time (and I run on boards a lot). I am glad to see there are folks like myself put there. I been yelling that these so called "Christians" running around beating their chest that they are all God fearing and God loving people, are all HYPOCRITES! FAKES! WOLVES IN SHEEP CLOTHING'S!
I can give you several examples I personally ran across and I NEVER do business with them but I had the chance to watch them deal with others. I also have worked with a few over the years. The ones who carry a bible, talk to you about converting, ask you to come to church etc. Then after a while you find out they were the ones stabbing everyone in the back.
Sad that society has come to this/ a bunch of people jumping oint he church wagon for self gain.
