I am intervieving for MBM wed just to see what they say..You have to take care of your body an keep your weight down.. I plan on doing this till i am 55 an then start delivering fuel.. Also will help if you keep your record clean..I have clean record an no accidents in 25 years...take care an keep moving

I did the driving test for mbm the other day, had to pre trip, couple the truck and go down the road about 20 miles, the tester was from ryder, he said i could float gears or double clutch as long as i was safe...the lift test done by a physical therapist started with range of motion then used a crate with 35 pounds in it from the floor to a shelf about 5 times, then had to take two steps forward with the crate and turn around, had to do the same thing with the weight increased to 50lbs and then 85...had to push and pull on a pully type measuring device and get it to 125 lbs for 2 seconds at a certain height and 85 at a different height, it turned out being a descent little 15-20 minute workout

I'm married to a former MBM driver who just left there. Here is what he experienced in his 1st year

    The GOOD
    -the pay is great
-yes, it's hard work but he's in great shape
-the company is expanding and growing so it has a good future

    The BAD
-if you're a driver, you will be on the extra board. That means you will have zero personal life. Hope you're single! I'm not exaggerating. The hubby has arrived home at 6pm just to leave back out at 11pm. He's also been bullied into spending his reset on the truck. When he has had his 34 hr reset at home, they've scheduled him to leave at 34:15 minutes. He's missed birthdays, Valentine's Day, Holidays...MBM is severely understaffed and the office staff doesn't care. He was also pressured into driving during a blizzard on roads that were closed. They break a lot of DOT regulations.

-The dispatchers and office staff are ridiculous and a real liability. I really have not figured out their job, other than to tell the drivers to call back in every two hours til they actually get around to scheduling the routes. They do not even know where a certain driver is 1/2 the time. (uh...didn't YOU make the schedule?) When you are lucky enough to get directions to some drop you've never been to, better use your GPS. More than once, their directions would've had my hubby delivering to a house in a residential neighborhood. And on one occasion, they actually had him pick up a backhaul in the wrong state. (he was yelled at because he was going by their instructions, and after 3 mths there, didn't know that the 3 letter code on the delivery slip was actually the other location)

-At some MBM locations, there is a Team route that everyone (everyone new) had to do, but you're told you only have it once every few months. That's until enough people quit, then you're doing it at least once a month. You are out 4 days and are paid less than 2 day pay. And because it's 4 days, it's hard to get another route in that week.

-you are given 7 sick days but if you ever actually use them you will be written up. My hubby took only 2 sick days, both times he was written up. If you don't answer your phone, can't take a load out, anything that management disagrees with, they write you up. And you're not allowed to contest it.

Basically, the money is great if you can put up with the bull that goes with it.

OMG, I know this thread is somewhat old but my son worked at an MBM in Iowa for a while and you are right on about the BAD stuff. He had a Christmas party I think for ABATE group to attend and he asked for Saturday night off so he and his wife could go....guess when they set him to leave.....2 am Sunday. Needless to say the party was no fun.

bigfatslim how is things going for u at MBM. I put in an application and I did the phone enterview but never got a call. I talked to Rex and I was told he just hired 2 new guys and that was back in June I thank. Has there been any turnover? I have recieved emails twice asking was I still interested in the job. I called left a message plus sent an email to the recruiter in Texas. I said maybe I need to stay where I am at. Working 4 UPS Freight but the pay is not great. I need to average about 1100 a week. Also What days are you getting off?

Here in OKC, they are constantly advertising and having job fairs. What else can it be but driver turnover??
