    Could be due to state regulations. In Utah, for example, if you're transporting a motorcycle it must either be registered and plated (road bike), or have a Utah off-road sticker (dirt bike).

    Could be time limited or not suitable for a cross-country ride. I've both ridden and hauled across country. Given the OP is in a largish group, the logistics of such a ride would take them twice as long to get from NJ to CO even if nobody has a break-down. Nothing worse than riding with 13 other people that all get hungry, need gas, or take a leak at 13 different times.

    I'd bet $100 they wouldn't be friends any more by the time they reached CO if they attempted the ride. :biggrin_25520:
