Fish is one of the most healthiest meat you can eat. I LOVE to fish "I say work two days a week and fish five", as read by some bumper stickers. As pleasant and wishfull as it sounds, most american's that drive truck across 48 states that love fishing know that its mostly a dream and ofcourse this amounts to the "american dream". So most folks would rather it go to pass time while at home on line one not working. However; alot of unhealthy folks over-the-road, easy food that makes it so available at truck stops not saying that they dont offer healthy food or fast food, we all know that the prices are way too much and way more than most folks can afford compaired to what our checks offer. Speaking for americans not only truckers, carpenters, laborers, painters, and every other job or trade in america, but for all of us, considering; truckers are people and we know fat food is very easy for access and lack of excersise that these foods that not only make it easy to give us the availably to eat VERY unhealthy, FISHING: while folks are waiting for a load we all know we cant drive our semi's to the LOCAL FISHING HOLE is there a federal fishing licence? Opening this thread up to talk about FISHING while driving truck... How do you pack your tackle, bait, lets talk about finding holes and parking trucks ready to fish and FISHING while on the road....

I carry 2 rods in the truck, one for fresh water and one saltwater set up. I won't give away my "honey holes" but I use google earth and bing to search areas I'm going to be in. In most cases I try not to park the truck too close to my spot, that way my spot doesn't "get burned"
If I know I'm going fishing, I'll grab some fresh vegetables, so I can cook what I catch. Sometimes the thrill for me is when I didn't get a permit for a state I was in, so I had to sneek from the truck to my spot, unseen. Then look over my shoulder for the game warden.Big Les and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
My understanding those fishing fines without a licence could be heafty. Im wondering if they have a federal licence for all states. Wouldnt that make life easy

Some states will take your poles if caught without a license

I love to fish, but would rather take no chances and get a licence from walmart or something in the states I like to fish in, but prices could be heafty for non-residents unless you have a military ID and that helps. Problem is unless your dedicated you never know when your going to be running back thru that state again and when and if you will be stoping in that state for a period of time long enough to do any fishing. I contacted fishing game and one single federal fishing licence does not exsist. I know that it costs about 45 dollars for a season pass to fish in california. It would be better to get a season pass in the states or state you love to fish in and pretrip for it when hauling a load thru that state. Anyone like to do any Samon and Trout fishing?

My Dad and I used to make a drive from Nevada to Bear Lake in Utah every summer. I would love to make a trip like that again one day such a beautiful lake with lots of trout for everyone. I had alot of luck using powerbait and a bob, but lures work real well there during sunrise. Not sure on getting trucks into bear lake, but im sure there is a way. Willow beach, AZ/ NV up there by hoover ####, Is another trout hotspot. Lots of bites sunrise or sunset at willow especially on fridays when they release alot of trout back into the colorado river nearby . To fish at Willow beach all you need is a Colorado river licence and that was only 5 dollars for the season at Big 5 last time I checked.

I have a rod in the bunk and always got a chance to stop in VERDI,NV and fish the river in behind the truck stop, the truckee river. Mostly rainbows, small ones. You can walk that stretch of river for quite a distance.
I don't run California much anymore,so I let the non residence license laps. It was worth it when I had it though because almost every time through there I could get down to the river for an hour or so. Especially if donner pass was closed or required chains. It kept me away from the casino!
Some states will sell a one day license(NV does) and if you can find the local bait shop they most likely will have them available. Not a bad way to spend the day if you're laid over.Big Les Thanks this. -
I use to keep a kid's tackle box and a Snoopy pole on the truck and a few times found the time and a place to spread a blanket and enjoy (usually you pass the perfect spot but don't have the time). I didn't get a license but didn't think any game warden would take my fishing with it seriously.
