I was wondering if any veteran truckers have had this problem.
I posted a notice on here in the report a bad trucking company section about a company here in Michigan thats trying to recruit drivers for locale positions.
I went to work for them. They are elite Expediting. Needles to say, after one week of working for them I quit and attempted to go back to Swift.
Now Elite expediting will not release my work verification to Swift and as such Swift by law can not rehire me until they do.
Ive called the company and left messages. Thats about all you can do with these people because they transfer you to someones voice mail whenever you call them about it. I leave a message, no one calls back or sends the verification.
Swift has also called them and is having problems as well.
They haul freight for Panther expediting and Panther pretty much has the attitude that the guy is a separate entity and there is nothing they can do to help.
This is a small time company and I think they are offended that I quit to go back to Swift. I guess this was the ultimate way of offending someone in this industry.
The guy has a very low opinion of Swift and I think it seriously ticked him off that I think Swift is a better company to work for then him.
Has anyone had this problem before and if so, who do I contact to resolve it? I dont know if the U.S DOT has a number I can call or if this is something I have to take care of on a locale or state office level.
Wont release work verification

State labor board would be one place to start.

Did you get even one paycheck from them? Most big companies will allow you to use that as evidence of work verification.. and the local D.A. might help too.

this IS a problem to THIS DAY I STILL HAVE with one former employer...they simply WILL NOT co-operate in supplying information to any other employer....and i was with them for 6.5 years...!!
most new employers i applied to and got hired on by simply did not worry too much about it, and i still get hired on.....(because that former employer is known for that). you can use any W-2 forms you got as proof of employment, you can even go to the local SS office and get a print up of ALL you weeks where you worked for them........
now here you are in a particular situation where probably NO ONE ELSE has ever been in.....you were only there for 1WEEK.....!!!!!!!!!
skip them, as being unemployed for ONE WEEK........
get a copy of your DAC, if they are NOT listed as an employer, then you didn't exist....!!! screw them.......
but since you are trying to GO BACK to Swift, and you had already done this, then go get proof of working there. like the W-2...
i'll be back with additional information, i gotta do some researching for ya..EZ Money, bullhaulerswife and GuysLady Thank this. -
I had the same concern with an employer that I worked three years for and some recruiters I spoke with was unable to get information. Here is what I found out. The initial contact with a company most will pick up the phone and call the employer you list on the application to verify. Then when you go to orientation the recruiter knows you should not get sent home because he checked you out. At orientation is when the company pulls your DAC, PSP, MVR and verify employment. DAC has changed its name to hireright. Hireright now does employment, criminal and MVR background checks for employers. Hireright does not call to verify employment, they pull the I-9 forms for any employer that has deducted payroll taxes using your social security number.

I once worked for Arrow trucking and had the same problem. Arrow said we'll try to verify one more time and then just make notes in your file and hire you.

submit an open records request...they have to abide by the freedom of information act

I had that problem several years ago. I called FMCSA, they called the company and offered to send a couple people down to help them look through their records and since they were already there just look through everything they had... I got my verification 2 days later.

Yes I've had a similar problem. Most companies will use paystubs or logs to verify it if the company won't but your talking about swift. They really don't use much common sense logic so they may not.
