No food! No water or bathroom and expected to stay in truck

Little update just got a call from Swift and they want me to go pick up a day cab about 60 miles from my house and bring it down to the terminal tomorrow. Sounds like they got me a truck ready when I get there.


I sure hope so ready to roll!! So far my experience with all the staff at Swift minus the trainer has been really good. The people that work there seem to be real nice.

Most of the drivers I have ran into at the terminals have been extremely helpful in answering any of my questions. I have learned a ton from them.

Except for the six weeks with the mentor at no fault of Swift's everything has been great! See Ya on down the road..

 

Picked up Daycab and now headed to Home Depot to pick up a load. I guess this would be considered my first load. Taking it to Houston and then getting put into my own truck.

I did not know we picked up loads at Home Depot stores? I only knew we delivered to them.

This should be a fun little ride. Stopped at Loves and picked me up a CB. I have never installed a CB before so this should be interesting. Oh well if I cannot do it I guess the shop will put it in for me.

Just plain happy to get off that trainers truck!!!

 

Yea it is fun!! I just now got my CB and after I pick up the truck today headed to Walmart to get her all decked out. I still have to get my atlas as well.

few weeks should have my TV and fridge and everything will be complete then.

 

Yea they routed me from Houston to Lancaster to do the simulator class as well. My first load was a load of tires from Houston to Grand Prairie. Picked up an empty at the terminal got to the shipper and asked to slide my tandems all the way to the back.

Ok no problem went out to do it and tandems would not slide. One pin would not go in. The guard ask me if I could go out into the street because other trucks where needing to come and so I moved.

Got out my hammer and hit the stuck pin. It went in and then came right back out. Earlier I went to Walmart and spent around $140 on what I would need for my truck. Thank god I bought a screwdriver and vise-grips.

The spring behind the pin was causing it to remain stuck out so I had to pry the spring back and then take the vise-grips and hold the spring back. the pin would now go in. Moved the tandems and went and picked up the load.

The first load was very easy and found both places with no problems. Now I just got to wait until tomorrow afternoon after my simulator class and log book class and hopefully I will have a load out of here.

So far I am loving the truck they gave me and enjoying solo.

 

The truck I got it was very easy to install my CB so I did not need the shops help.
