Averitt Express Questions?

What do you mean by "jump thru hoops to keep your insurance"?
Anyone tell me how they think the team driving conditions are in North GA, Chatt TN area? Any replies appreciated. My attraction was being home weekly and 4500-5000 miles a week, driving SE team, .40/m split.

Has anyone heard of Averitt purchasing DATS TRUCKING INC? They are located in Utah.

 

i am going to be honest with you. averitt is about average which is not
saying much. i worked there for 12 years. now you might say wow that
much be a good company. well i ran truckload for 4 years and ran ltl for
the remaining 8. what you are getting into is the truckload division. you
will sit alot for nothing. you will load freight for nothing. you will unload
freight for nothing. i averaged around 40,000/annualy.. you decide if it
is good or not.

 

yep it's shave the beard or a note from your DR saying you can't per medical,
after 1 year though you go to see their DR to be evaluated again, good luck with DR T he will say you should shave even if you have a problem with ingrown hair etc.

 

Most of the trucks now have engine brakes, and if you are near 1 of the larger service centers getting truck serviced will be easy if not it can be a pain.

most of the time they want you to fuel on site which was no problem for me because it was a lot faster than going through the truckstop fueling process,

my biggest complain is they are self insured that's great for accidents. saves them ton's of money.

but they are also self insured for Workers Compensation, and you could find yourself being treated like a criminal, as they want to get you back as fast as possible and if they think you're taking to long to heal they could make your life difficult

If you have a load fall on you and say my back is hurt and later need shoulder surgery (like me) I went through the headache of proving I had hurt my shoulder that day it never made it into the 1st report the only thing that saved me was the bills from the hospital showing I had xrays on my shoulder that day even though I was partly buried under a load and taken by ambulance to ER I also had bill collectors going after me because they pay the Medical bills etc through a 3rd party and it takes you getting involved over & over to get issue taken care of just to keep your credit out of the toilet.

 

What about their health insurance. Do they make you wait a year for certain coverage if you have a pre existing condition such as diabetes?

 

no company worth two cents will hire any dummy with a major
violation like a 15mph over....news flash you said most companies consider this a major violation..... Well here is the deal...... It is a major violation dummy!!!!!!!!!!! Another news flash any company that has to "recruit a truck driver is not
a "good company" and guess what jr. Averitt is not a good company... They are a truckload company... They all suck if
there truckload companies they all do the same crap it dont
matter whether it is averitt,jb,us...etc....the only real jobs are
in ltl.

 

Anything over 14 is a major violation.I got one for 16 over and didnt realize it was a major untill I got a letter from the ky dot tellin g me so.I had already paid the tickett and it was several months latter when I decided to switch jobs and like you I found out that I couldnt be hired.
So I called the county attourny whrer I got the tickrtt and he told me what day the court handled traffic violations and to just show up.I told the judge my situation and he reduced it on my record to 9 over non com. vehicle with no points.No high dollar lawer was needed.Just a 100 mile drive and a day in court.

 

Just call the county where you got the tickett.See what can be done.Its not a done deal just because you have paid it.It isnt a court battle with big lawer fees.

 

I live in In, and I am suppose to go to orientation this coming week, in Cookville, Tn. At 42.5 cents a mile with 2100 miles a week, which is the companys weekly average its almost, 900 gross a week. And there benefits are very good. Add what you save with insurance and its not all that bad. I have been in the trucking game for 35 years, and they have one of the best packages around.
