Hello,
I have a 2000 6NZ and this am it spun the bearings in the CAM
Truck is at (lucky i made it there) local CAT shop whom i trust.
I am 100% sure I gotta have a new cam possibly head but maybe just bearings in head. They are going to start tearing it down in the morning. I have seen alot of threads talking about the Marine CAM Shaft and I would like to know if i should go with that instead of the Original?
Also if anyone has any suggestions, ideas or anything please let me know as I will be talking to them tomorrow or monday for sure.
TIA
jay

MR. HANEY, WHERE ARE YOU.........? SOMEONE NEEDS YOU HERE !!! lol, you have to find mr. haney, get a moderator to PM him.

I sent Mr. Haney a PM for you, hopefully he will contact you, let me know what happens, goodluck to you.

I'd be surprised if a Cat house put a marine cam in a road truck due to emissions/legal issues but keep us posted. If you have a good relationship with them maybe, I dunno, but I bet corporate would never knowingly let such a thing happen. I believe all the guys on here doing that kind of swap have it done by an independant mechanic.

I was thinking the samething......He better ask before they take it apart.

Try searching for part # 130-9710 until somebody that knows more than part numbers comes along..Maybe you can buy it from the parts side and carry it over to the service side-kind of a see no evil, speak no evil thing.

Diesel Dave.........I got the PM and thought it was you that had the problem. I did realize that you'd copied this gentlemans post, ignore my PM...........here's my PM with some editing to Diesel Dave. The editing pertained to CA and the smoke police
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -

If the CAT shop will install the camshaft I'd would definately try to get them to install the marine cam 130-9710 in the engine. The problem is the CAT shop may not want to do this. You may need to purchase the cam seperatlty from the parts department and physically carry it into the shop and tell the shop manger you want this camshaft installed. This will keep the camshaft part number off the repair order and the bill for the repair. By doing this you take the resposibility away from the shop for installing the wrong part in the truck that doesn't meet emission standards for when the engine was built.
The only other thing I'd consider is a fast spool turbo similar to PDI Stage 1 and a PDI extrude honed manifold for your application. These two parts will get more air into the engine and increase throttle response. You could also do some ECM mild tuning
Being that you are based in CA, it makes it hard to do much and worry about the smoke police not nabbing you. The things I've listed should increase throttle response, Hp, and fuel mileage without much of an increase in smoke.Ozdriver Thanks this. -
Really useful post..

thanks for reply(s)!!!
Sorry I havent responded sooner, but since truck is down my wife has me laying hard wood in kids room...
Anyways I will call around and see what the cheapest price is for the cam and give it a try. I have a few good friends that work at local CAT shop so I may be able to get it done.
Thanks and by the way I am based in ALABAMA not CA... Have not had time to fix profile.CATshaker Thanks this.
