If you are looking for engine protection and/or protection for most of the components in a truck the best ittem that im aware of is Molybdenum Disulphide powder you can mix it into engine oil, gearbox oil, diff oil, power steering, and also it can be mixed into grease and used on universal joints, suspension bushes, through-out bearings, tie-rod ends and 5th wheel, DONT USE TO REPACK WHEEL BEARINGS. Molybdenum Disulphide is the additive that is used by most manufactures of long life non greasable bearings, and it is widely used in industry such as mining, etc. it is also highly recommended by differantial experts to be added for greater protection and longer wear. I do use it for all the above and also use it in my harley engine and gearbox. It is not a snake oil, it has been proven to work many times over and this is why it is the choosen additive of industry leaders. But dont take my word for it spend a few hours of your time and start searching the net and you will find out for yourself. Hope this helps
P.s WARNING DONT USE IN LIMITED SLIP DIFFS OR WET CLUTCHES. Because it works that well that it will stop the clutch pads grabing and then it will feel like you have burnt out your clutch.Last edited: Feb 18, 2011

or quartzpegmatite
MIX RATES

BOX & DIFF - 2 grams of Molybdenum Disulphide powder per litre of Gear oil
GREASE - 15 grams of Molybdenum Disulphide powder per tube of EP grease (grease gun tube)
or if you dont want to mix grease then buy Caltex (chevron in the states i think) Molygrease EP2 it is a multipurpose, extreme pressure, lithium soap based grease containing molybdenum disulphide at 3%.
POWER STEERING - (do not increase % rate) 2.5 grams of Molybdenum Disulphide powder per litre of power steering fluid

How do you know how much to mix into your oil, grease, etc... ?
-
There is a company that specilises in molybdenum disulphide lubricants, they are called molybond and you can check them out at molybond.com.au if you get there MSDS data you can find exactly how much molybdenum disulphide is in each of their products. I dont mix in molybdenum disulphide at as high a % as they do but you can safely double the amount that I stated above. FYI - molybdenum disulphide is a natural mineral. ONE THING YOU NEED TO BE SURE OF IS THAT YOU BUY molybdenum disulphide powder that is no larger than 10 microns in size (a human hair is about 70 microns). On the link above the powder is a max of 10 microns.

I guess no one here uses motor kote then???
-
Not sure about it?
I use oil where it should be oiled. Grease where it should be greased, gear oil where it should be gear oiled...(you get my point). -
Sorry mate, no I dont use motor kote. do you know what the active ingrediant in it is? if it is teflon I would stay away from it. and just stick with what black dog106 said.

schaeffers oil has moly in it http://www.schaefferoil.com/index.html
Eliminates Start-Up Wear
When is the toughest time on your engine?
At start-up, because your oil's in the pan, not in the engine. So, when you start your engine, metal grinds against metal. And in those first 60 seconds, engineers estimate that 80% of your engine wear takes place.
SUPREME 7000 does what no other oil can. It protects your engine even when the oil isn;t there. SUPREME 7000 incorporates two proven friction fighters, Micron Moly® and Penetro®, that plate to the internal parts of your engine and protect it against start-up wear.
