Having your board sittin and waitin isn't the kind of name a DM should be making for themselves. Afterall, they're compared based on their boards average miles run, revenue generated, and loads successfully completed on-time.
I had a fe good DMs there. But somehow I also got stuck breaking in new DMs too, which meant new DMs didn't know where the good freight was and how to secure it for their drivers. They often sat back and let the scraps fall in their lap and tried passing it off on the drivers.
Needless to say I'd raise a stink and get off their boards in short order.

Lol I'm not getting it. Maybe I just have to many bad habits from PAM but this job experience has been like a train wreck for me.
Yet also I realize Hiner probably has many drivers to run just fine there so all I can say is I respect the veteran Hiner guys who make this system work.
I do think last weekend my dispatcher overbooked me though. I'm not sure why he would do that. But I didn't see the Recap in the Peoplenet/Elogs and went over my 70.
Feeling like I got in over my head. I didn't even know they were on Elogs when I applied. -
Well I think me and Hiner are parting ways already. I'm not sure I'd say Hiner should be considered bad though. It just depends on what you're looking for. If someone wants to run hard and take whatever the dispatcher can throw at them then they make like Hiner.
Myself I have to admit several 600 mile days will burn me out. Also Hiner is always going a few steps ahead with preplans and I'm really not used to that. I like to keep it simple and just work on my current dispatch.
But for other truckers near Huntington, IN who really want to roll Hiner might have what you're looking for. -
I'm looking at going to Hiner as well I don't care if i run the east i was told that thy do not force you to go into NYC as long as i don't go there I'm OK with them the money that thy say i will make is better than were I'm at and the trucks are a lot newer and the recruiter said that thy are internationals with auto transmissions,I have never drove a auto trans before in a semi but thy said thy like them and thy get better fuel millage than a 10 or 13 speed I don't know I will see And I will see if the money he said I can make is there as well. all so thy are all electric logs to, another new one for me. I hope I'm making the right move.

you won't make the money they say fixer, you might 1 week a month, and on the honeymoon, they bend over backwards for the owners trucker friends, you'll eventually get just the scraps, and now they went to e logs......nuff said, they have the potential of being a decent co, but as long as theres preference it will not happen

thank you for the info fulgrwnmn,
do you think that I can make more than 500 week gross? and get a better truck than a 62 mile hour? and make more than 30 cents mile and get more than 2000 miles a week? that is what i have now if hiner is better than OK if not i will stay were I'm at Bestway express out of Vincennes Indiana (old trucks & slow) (mine has all most 1 million miles on it 988,150 and thy have no plains to up date it) thy just keep fixing it and I lose time and loads witch means money out of my pocket. I hit my 14 hour every day before my 11 hrs. (to slow of a truck) for example I pick up in Indianapolis IN. and drive to Lexington KY. do a drop and hook there drive to Georgetown KY 11 miles away dock to dock drop and hook and here I have to wait and do a count while thy load the empty trl that is in the dock all ready that takes 2 hours at best some times more, and than drive back to plainfield IN and do another drop and hook and that run takes me 15 hours because of the sitting at indianapolis IN average 2 hrs stop 2, 1 hr at best and stop 3, 2 hrs at best, plus the slow truck so there is no making up time there. that is adverage of my day. If hiner is like this I'm not moving but if thy are better than the scraps are OK with me you have to prove yourself no matter were you go so i guess it is on how you look at it. thank you for your in put it does help Bryan -
yes fixer, I know a driver for bestway also, he says same as you, the only reason he stays there I think is he drives for my wifes company when not at bestway, as they lease out there trk to bestway.
as far as pay I average 550-650 take home at hiner, sometimes more but it was rare, my biggest there was about 950 net.
There trk are mostly internationals with autos, if i remember right mine ran 68, I also had a apu, there maint dept is pretty good, the people there are all pretty decent, i just didn't like the preference they gave the senority, don't get me wrong, senority should get it, but not at the cost and exspence of the co and other drivers to do it.
They went e logs...................hopefully they have it worked out to keep you movin, they prolly do, just make sure you get a experienced dm, you be much better off, all in all not a bad co, i can say you'll do better there than bestway mile wise.
Good Luck! -
Hiner is one of the better companies in Indiana, I think. They're not perfect by any means.
I averaged 2800-3200 miles per week. Of course, that was before elogs, so I don't know what the drivers are averaging now.
I just couldn't handle them 500-600 mile loads everyday and being in dock everyday. -
if bestway would speed up ther trucks i would stay I'm happy here but at the same time i have to turn down loads because i dont have the hours because of a slow truck. from what i here from other bestway drivers thy all say the same thing i wish my truck was faster and i would not be lookig. thy are a good place to work the worst thing is the slow trucks
-
I dunno fixer....62 is slow, but not enough to make a drastic diff, if you keep your doors closed it don't matter that much, say if you did have a 65 trk and drove a full 11 hrs w/out stopping, it's only gonna save ya 33 mins on the trip, and that is under ideal conditions, 3 digit trks don't go no faster in construction or big city traffic either.
