Just curious. Do most of you just use homeowners or renters insurance to cover all of your personal items in your truck? Things such as laptop, tv, fridge, microwave etc?

Since I don't own or rent the truck (as a company driver), would it even apply?

Nah, just deduct them off your taxes whether an employee expense or even if it was stolen it can be deducted as a loss. Those items depreciate faster than anything. They aren't worth new forever with their limited lifespan. Stuff like guns, jewelry and antiques you insure, but you don't carry them in a truck.

if you had (say) an apartment in another state while you were going to college, then your parents home owners insurance would cover you if something happened...now this i know from personal experience...
now as far as your truck, i had never had this come up before..i would just NOT buy EXPENSIVE stuff as ANY insurance company will "in most instances" pay you a percentage of the cost, not the full cost of replacement, as they figure in depreciation.....you might end up with a nice little settlement but then to, do not forget any deductibles you would have as well.....making you buy products much cheaper than what you had....
so buy cheap, and go on your way, and LOCK your doors at ALL times.. and password protect any laptop you get so no one can start it up and re-sell it......(except for parts)....Joker24 Thanks this. -
Thanks guys.
