Hello, I was just wondering if anyone here has this radio and what's the performance like?
I don't want to spend too much money, just need something basic with illuminated panel to see at night.
Radio will be used with K40 plus antenna, any input appreciated.
Thanks, Raf.

Raf,
Nice radio, easy to work on (but they don't come in for service often). Screen is easy to see at night. All the newest ones (whose serial numbers begin with 929xxx) have MOSFET final stages, which have gotten easier to source than most traditional transisitors. Sounds like you'll have a great setup.

I have the DX 959 and I love it. I had the mosfets installed and it performs great.

Thank you much for the good info and support, I have the K40's, the radio will be coming soon from Walcott CB. I have heard good words about them and I'll go with the option to pick and tune.

Raf, a suggestion if I might: when you order the radio, ask them to leave the AMC limiter in place and set for 100% maximum modulation. Nothing wrong with having the rest of the transmit and receive stages optimized, but with the mod limiter intact, you'll always sound good, won't splatter, and won't waste power.
And, when the skip's hot, we won't have to hear you from Ch 12 to Ch 25
Let us know how you like it once you're on the air. I'm betting you'll be pleased.

I will definitely update. Thanks Again
