I called btc and they stated they want drivers with one year flatbed experience or one year otr recent experience.

That is the most misinformed statement that has ever been written on this forum. Have to stay out 4 weeks...(not no tarps statement)...I get home almost every weekend and I am making .41 cents a mile soon to be .42:biggrin_2559:

If you work for a company that really wants to get you home every weekend, you will get home. It takes more planning on the company part, but Maverick does an excellent job of it.
It is much easier to just send you on the nearest load without caring where it is heading. Eventually they will take the time to figure out a way to get you home...they are just too lazy to do it every week.:biggrin_2556:

Yea during training with zero flat bed experience your out with a trainer for 4 weeks, then once you get your own truck, they get you home every weekend unless they need you, but there good about getting you home. So if anyone misunderstood me my apologizes but the 4 weeks is just for training if you have no experience.

I'm amused that folks think they should get or want to have home time during training. Learning as much as you can in a short period is hurt badly by going home and thinking about the Kids electric bill or how bad your team is doing. This is a brain dump time, when you should concentrating on filling that big punkin up. Most companies want you out there 1. To see if you can hack it. 2. To get you off the lowest pay rung as quick as possible. And the biggie! 3. About 15% of all new truckers quit on their trainer after the 1st Home time. Remember YOU signed up to be a trucker, not a stay at home parent. If this is really what you want(or need) then stick it out.

they start at .32cpm and top pay is .35cpm after 5 years...that is low pay for flatbed.

Any one know of a good flats company that is in or has terminal/yard in or around SE Texas area? Im looking to get into 'beddin and just curious whats around. I haven't talked to anyone at Maverick, but according to their website, Houston is out of their hiring area. :biggrin_2552: Other than them, I dont know any companies close by to SE Texas... Thanks :)

I guess I could rephrase that in a better way...basically I'm OTR now. I can stay out anywhere from 3 weeks to just about whenever I'm ready to have off. I have stayed out as long as 2.5 months before. I am single with no kids, so home time isn't really important to me. So actually, any company could do. :biggrin_25520:
