Buckeye, you probably won't see much if any NYC with our flatbed division that I can tell. We haul a lot of building supplies, which a lot of folks consider crap freight, but it all pays us the same ;)

Ohio's going to be a great place to be based out of. I spent about a month early this winter bouncing on I-80 and I-90...got my Starbucks fix on that lovely Ohio Turnpike quite a bit! You'll probably see a lot of steel coils, and a lot of Laredo runs I'd imagine when you come out of the house (depending where in Ohio you are).

dieselgrl: I live in Wooster, OH right off of US 30 between Mansfield and Canton, OH), Regionally, sort of "boxed" in by I-80/90 to the North, I-71 to the West, I-77 to the East and I-70 to the South. The so-called "crap freight" is fine with me as long as the .cpm is the same. ;-) Take care out there.

So in essence they are paying multiple times for a driver to tarp and strap the loads. Seems kind of wrong in my mind. But what do I know, I am a dumb dry-van driver?:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514:

The yard tarp is not a complete road worthy tarp job. Its just thrown on and weighted or bungeedin place so the wind doesn't take it off. A complete tarp job is more extensive.

dropped off my moly, picked up a weyerhauser load from houston, took it to austin, then back. The drivers in houston sure don't do pre-trips on their trailers
Found 2 tires with 30psi and one with 50psi. I spent more time airing up the tires then tying the load down.

    alex94 Thanks this.

Grabbed some wire mesh from houston, taking it to Price,UT 18 straps
This is some slippery stuff when it is just manufactured. They use a soap as a lubricant to feed the wire through the machine to make the mesh.
I try to get a strap on every bundle.
Also used all my portables, 1 4 inch rachet strap, 1 3 inch rachet strap.
I am glad i didnt have to break out the 2 inch rachets also.

    Civilservant and alex94 Thank this.

Got some miles on that one. Seems I'm still being kept close to the Weyerhaeuser mills and I'm not complaining. Heading from Bruce, MS to Columbus, IN with some sticks.
