I talked to a neighbor of mine who has driven for some 50 years and told me
To start with central get some experience then go to a " higher end company"
That has better opportunities miles runs etc. I want to get with a
More regional co and like heartland and schinder both have western
Regional devisions and seem to be more stable companys but you
Have to have experience once I get my one year in and have around
100k miles I will have a lot more doors open to me ..but right now
Central seems the best place to be

Curios, were they let go by central??, or quit??
I have done alot of research on training and companies, Central appears too be a good training company, and for that matter a company worth staying with as long as the life style suits you and you incorparate preplanning in too your daily routine. Lease/owner option seems a lil risky as the economy is not stable, in better economic times probably makes more sense, Obamanomics is still untested
thanks too all for the input.....

They might be taking hometime, I've known a few people that went as far as cleaning out their truck just to go on hometime for a few days. A lot of people walk off without telling central, they find out a few days later because they cant get ahold of whoever was in the truck.

that might crush your hand when opening it. Keeping onions for 6 or 7 days can build up a lot of pressure at 34 continuous. Wouldnt really matter with a <1000 mile run. But 3k, thats 5 or 6 days worth of gas. dont need my hand crushed and dont need a red mark on my face... might as well play it safe

I personally hate drop and hooks. you never know the mess the previous driver left the trl in, Cuts off Detention pay, never know if there is some hidden problem like the trl ABS light staying on. I like to keep the same trailer for as many weeks as possible since i know whats going on with it daily and easy to notice something different.

A lot of my families issues are that I would be on the road all the time and that I have health issues. I have an Arthritic Autom immune disease and Crohn's disease that have wrecked my life for the last 2 years. I'm getting to the point where I understand stand it pretty well and know my limitations. Plus I got some new medication that seems to be helping. I won't have a problem with any kind of DMV physical requirments or anything like that and can do the job. I decided to go with reefers because its less physically demanding than flatbeds or even vans, to make it easier on myself.

I moved away from home at 18 at went to college and worked 30 hours + a week. When I was 20 going on 21 my body just kind of crashed and I got much more arthritis than the average old person. I quit working and dropped out of school and gained 45 pounds from being inactive.

Now I'm 22 figuring out the diseases and lost about 20 of the 45 gained pounds. I want to get on with my life and start getting things done. I don't plan on making driving a longterm career especially since the disease is progressive and I would end up retiring after 5 to 10 years.

I'd like to drive 1 1/2 to 2 years and save all the money up. I figure I could save 30,000 to 40,000 thousand dollars up in this time period. I'd be able to buy 2 or 3 rental duplexes that would secure my future and have money leftover to go back to school.

Currently I work as campus police at a university which is kind of like a glorified security guard and pay is just above minimum wage. I honestly believe that trucking will secure my future and keep me from going on disability in my late 20's.

I think if I make this into a speech and tell my family they won't mind if I go into trucking. I just got to get moving now or I may never.

Ya... the way they route you from OK City to Dodge City, that is really stupid. You can take the direct route and knock about an hour off of the way they route you. It only saves about 12 to 15 miles but takes an hour to do it.

Honestly I can't say. But from talking with some that have left, they just think they can take their sweet time getting to their 99's. They don't want to hussle so they don't make enough money.
It is the old mind set, "Well I'm worth a lot more than they are paying me"; WRONG!
Now keep in mind, they not only left Cental they have left trucking too....
