I am working with CRST and deal with a lot of BS, but I have the attitude as you do and it works. Patience and understanding is what gets me through the day and on to the next. This is a complex business, so sometimes attention to one person cannot be delivered which turns into layover. Just keep your positive attitude and you will do fine. good luck!

Study your pretrip inspection for the State Exam at every opportunity you have. It'll be the hardest part of the State Exam. Also, I went through C1 in Fort Wayne and can tell you that they only teach you how to pass the exam and get a CDL. Once you get to USA with your trainer, you'll learn the real ins and outs of driving the big rig.

USA is known as a starter company but its all what you make of it. If you follow the rules, keep your loads on time and practice safety, you can make some good money at USA.

Good luck and have fun! Its a career choice but you should enjoy yourself too.

Thomas is right about the whining. When you hit the terminals you'll hear drivers whining all the time; some of the complaints are legit, but a lot of them are just whining and moaning. I'm no old hand, but I did a little research before getting my CDL. One thing I found is that a lot of the stuff they complain about are things which happen at pretty much every company. A lot of drivers have left for another company thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence - just to find out that it's more of the same at a lot of places.

Not saying that this is the ultimate place to work; just that a lot of folks get into this and find out that it's not all they thought. Maybe they drank a little too much of the recruiter's Kool-Aid; maybe they watched too many movies. But it's not a job for everyone. You have to pay attention and develop a little self-sufficiency. And know that you don't know everything. I think that, 10 years from now, there will still be things I have yet to learn. Trucking has a lot more of a learning curve than people think; every day I learn something new.

This place has got its ups and downs but, everything considered, USA isn't really that bad of a place to work. Even if I left tomorrow, I'd probably still recommend it to anyone getting into the job for the first time. I wish you luck.
