It is sad that they lost their lives...BUT...would you sail through waters known to be inhabited by pirates, just to hand out bibles?

Yes, I'd have to say I would, if that is what the Lord was calling me to do.

i would sail there as well--with a few .50 cal on the boat
sounds like it should be turned into a training ground for the air force to practice strafing runs
would be nice to see an old warthog blowing the skinnys outta the water

I want to know why it took four American warships to follow them...

You would think a frigate with a RIB would do the trick.. Not a freaking aircraft carrier.. :biggrin_25513:

This is a bad situation--and I know in my heart--w/all the warnings etc. they should have steered clear of the area!
Having said this--this is an USA FLAGGED VESSEL in INTERNATIONAL WATERS!!!!
Piracy has always been considered an act of War on the country where the attacked ship is flagged(assuming in international waters-)This applies to merchant ships--pleasure craft you name it--call me a ol hawk--but we WERE ATTACKED boys and girls and it calls for SWIFT and IMMEDIATE ACTION!!!!
Should have been done when this nonsense started a few years back--so time for Washington to get it's spine back--give the order--and show these individuals that we will not tolerate these acts!!
    Just my $.02

I find it hard to feel sorry for those who continue to ignore the 600 mile out warning. Very hard.

That said I am with olhand, as soon as these pirates touched a US flagged ship the US military should have routed them post haste. One nuke into that cute little port of theirs is all thats needed, heck might not even really need a nuke.... but I like to get the point across.

Reports are that 15 pirates were captured...4 killed. Not a single one of those surviving pirates should make it to shore and to trial. Caught in the act of piracy, there should be 15 head shots and a non-ceremonial burial at sea.

    PERIOD!

Than frag the Somalian port. :biggrin_25510:

Now this is something our military should be involved in and now, not soon...There was a time where if you harmed the hair on an American's head, there was hell to pay, now we sign form letters of strong discontent...No wonder the world isn't afraid of someone that can blow the world up 100 times over...
