Central Refrigerated Truck Stop

Well yeah, but when the DM is gone all weekend and neither weekend dispatch or the drivers mention anything about running out of hours, can't really blame the DM...and sometimes planners or c/s screw up and drop a load on a truck without the DM knowing. It's not always the DMs fault...anyway, you are the one driving the truck, its your job to make sure you have enough hours.

 

Learning here,please explain the 10 drive 10 sleep,then able too drive again, makes sense till you run out of hours for the 8 days????

 

thats the problem with doing that! You need to take a 34 hour reset. What happens is this on my long loads (> 1500 miles) that are a bit much for a solo driver but teams wont take it because its not enough miles or loads with short time. I work my hours so I am done with my 10 hour break at around midnight. I then drive my 600 miles for 10 hours. Take my next 10 hour break then run again for another 200 miles for another 4 hours to complete the DOT day (midnight to midnight) for a total of 14 hours.

I dont recommend doing this though especially for a driver that just started. It burns your available hours and tires you out quick.

 

A #99 is a/the final drop/stop for a load.

I did go to TDA in Sacramento. And the Class room part of the training was good. I got my permit with no problem. I didn't care for the yard training they gave. There was a lot of "This is what you have to say" from them and when we got down to Fontana there was a lot of "What are you talking about, I don't want to here that! Just tell me what your doing".
So I Paula went to Fontana for her classes and got trained by the ones doing the testing so there wasn't all the extra BS.
Plus, the Sacramento school is three weeks, and the Fontana school is only two. So she got on the road a week sooner.

 

The way my trainer and I are doing it is that I will drive for his 10 in the sleeper - being able to stop and go to line 1 for breaks - that puts me at about 9 hours drive time... so far, so good...

 

Yeah - what Klingon said... also why we didn't go at the same time is that I still had a job, needed to give my notice - and there was stuff at home to take care of before we both ran away - LOL! The course in Fontana is an 'accelerated' course - 3 days classroom and in to take permit test - Just over a week behind the wheel - and off with your trainer. The instructors are excellent though! Very patient!! Figure if I can learn it, and pass a good majority can too

They put me up in a motel - it was clean and servicable. The 'breakfast' was coffee and danish/toast... but there is a Denny's in the same corner parking lot if you need something else. Also a Food4Less - with a small fridge and micro in the room, it really kept costs down. If you get a choice - I would choose the Fontana option!!

 

Not to mention that it screws up that circadian rhythm bit that everybodies all hot about. Am on the same kind of run as you now and am already tired.

 

Need to fight the sleepies at about 4am! Great miles but sometimes painful. LOL
