I think there are 2 isx's in the semi trucks. one is betwenn 400-500hp and the 2nd is between 500-600hp. - without major mods. Therefore, I'm wondering is getting the motor up to its max hp( 500hp) would cause any damage.

Sorry, this is incorrect.
If you put a socket on the crankshaft bolt and hook a 20-foot long breaker bar on it, I can produce 2000 lb-ft of torque by hands without much problem. That's more torque than my engine is rated at. If your statement is correct, I should be able to move the truck go up hill faster than my engine.
Torque is absolutely meaningless (in this particular application) if it cannot be delivered fast enough. This is where horsepower comes in. Correct definition of horsepower is how much torque can be delivered in a given time. Horsepower is calculated by (torque output x RPM)/5252.
Here's a real-world example. Many big diesels produce close to maximum torque right off idle, and start to fall off by 1400rpm or so. If torque is all that matters, why do you bother downshifting and raise rpm to where there is less torque available?outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Louisville is a busy place today.. Guess they are putting on 20 trucks this week.. But there are a lot of used trailers with old numbers still on them in the trailer lot..

Where is all the freight they are going to haul? How many of us are sitting for days at a time between loads right now? Is our driver turnover increasing for those old trailers to be turned in?

dunno but I was suprised by the amount of old trailers and most numbers are newer then mine and i am going on 10 months. So the ones they are bringing on are not lasting long at all.. Not even enough time to figure out the "system"

depends where you deliver, we all know that. I'm in Salt Lake and late this morning I was #11. But I had a very good load coming out here. My buddy sat three days in southern part of FL. And going to TX or CA this time of year can be a bad idea. Are you guys running to the same areas all the time?

I am staying in the midwest doing the shorter stuff.. Yeah it is more work but it is all 2.00 + a mile little dead head and I am turning down loads left and right day after day..

yeah, midwest is where its at. and if you want a day off you can take it without any problems. I was trying to get to Las Vegas this week for a conference and my load was supposed to go to St George UT, I would have deadheaded from there. After I got loaded my last stop showed up as SLC and nobody told anyone about that change. Messed up my plans big time.
