ask some of the former Cf drivers who had 29 years at CF when the doors where shut on sept 2002 , and then find out they had to find work for themselves to collect there pension , I was there 3 years and was in the midst of the fight going on between the union and the workers . we knew the writing was on the wall , and sure nuff our Ba's/Reps screwed us . as for equipment , if it wasn't for my height , I would have been driving one of them 2 storys that where built in the 70's with over 2-3 million miles and rattled or broke down , instead I got a newer coe sleeper as a assigned truck .

    if unions are so great
WHY DO THEY ONLY REPRESENT 12% of the Nations workforce...
but EAT UP so much of our money to fund thier pension ponsey schemes...
why did they have to be bailed out by the GOVT ...
    Obama motors...Government motors
oh yea I cant wait to have someone else in my wallet besides the fed to take something they didnt earn....call it DUES then support the LEFTEST cannidates they can find to funding them money...
maybe back in the "DAY" unions were good
but now they are nothing but an expense to the rest of us.

    Remember Eastern Airlines..
Yep I live in Atlanta and I watched the UNIONS strike this company right out of business...
did no good for anyone Union workers had No Job and it really hurt our city for a long time...
of course with the airline gone and all the other airlines in the area at full staff...many a career changed...
all unions want is MORE MORE MORE and Do less and less for it....

Unions can be good, only problem is, people get involved. When people get involved, greed walks in and hires sloth and so those at the bottom generally have to pay to support the entire greed-sloth clan.

Detroit is a good example of what can happen. When a company is forced to pay a laid off employee (laid off because the company is losing money hand over fist), 75% of his original pay due to union contracts....umm..somethin's wrong.

If a union would just stand up for FAIR practices with a company, well, I honestly think all of us would benefit. Employees of the company, union members and the consumers that buy the goods. But heck, I'm just a dumb truck driver...who listens to me...

I guy i know had a job offer to work for a driveing job(union) for one of those plant presure companys(the ones that travel to plant to plant cleaning out the stacks etc.
They told him that he would start out at $11.44 a hour to drive and the laborers would make $9.78 a hour and to beat it all you have to call in every evening if you are not on a job at the time!!!(so much for knowing what your going to make a month(lol)
I kow one union driveingcompany TNT HOLLAND ltl, that pays in the $22 or more a hour(at least 5 years ago they did, they may make $25+ or more now.
I think these wages for the blasting company are worse than a lot of non-union jobs!

He asked me what i thought they would pay him with 1 year exp and i guessed over $20 a hour (lol)

But on the most part there are good unions as well as bad.
    Right now i make $13.88 a hour 40 hours is $555.20 plus i average 15 hours over time,which is $850-$870 a week .
Which is around $45,000 a year, and yes the small stores require me to hand unload by hand.
I know a lot make more than me but i am home everynight and i live in a area where a $100,000 house is better than a lot that costs over $200,000 in the big cities.
But the bad side is my company (i feel ) won't be in bizz another year.
If my company was managed good (son took over) i would be happy staying there until i retired.

I think there is some good unions and some bad, just lie non-unions imop.

From the responses, we should rename this thread the "let's hate on Teamsters while making .35 per mile" thread..

Unreal.. But I expect nothing less from those who cannot follow simple instructions like slide and lock your tandems before we put your trailer away for you because we've found most of you are not capable of hitting the door all by yourself..

The stuff I see in this yard daily is unreal - simple, plain, and driver friendly instructions are simply not understood and all I can do is shake my head - I guess I can make you wait so I do that as much as possible when you cannot follow simple instructions..

Kinda scares me that I've shared the road with these clowns and will again next year..

No Teamster carrier ever bothered me...

I never said unions were the greatest thing since sliced toast. Just merely want to know why all the bashing? I am sure unions are to blame for all the troubles at GM. Oh wait they now have a two tier system for wages and i am sure management had made all the greatest wisesst decisions.
